Agreed. I hate the preseason and talk as much crap about it as anyone. I can't stand that they make these teams play 4 games when all of the work that needs to be done is covered in practice and scrimmages. But with that said, preseason is where most of us fans get our only looks at the team before the real season begins, and I think we're all educated enough to recognize talent, and improvement, without jumping to too many conclusions.
The games are meaningless, but the individual performances matter, regardless of competition. All opinions have to be adjusted relative to the context of preseason and I, like you, see no reason to wait till September 17th to decide that there might be reason for optimism. Or pessimism, for that matter. I just happen to be optimistic, based on what I've seen. |
