Te'o, Klien, and Anzalone looked damn good against the Chargers... I guess Anthony could be cheap depth, just in case...

However; we haven't really had a chance to see his talent with Nolan coaching him up

Of course. He will show flashes for 1 day and then mysteriously disappear with no real explanation.

I hope he comes back and is good enough to make Anzalone depth. He has so much raw, talent. Sad to see it not come to fruition.

True, and from earlier camp reports he seemed to be responding well to Nolan's coaching at WLB.

I'm pulling for him.

Me too. I would hate for it to be a waisted draft pick too. I've been pulling for him too but something's amiss.
I get the feeling the organization is mishandling something there.
Watch him go to Atlanta and wreak havoc on us twice a year.

what have you done...now it will inevitably happen. You've begun an unstoppable chain of events that will result in this exact scenario -- thus balancing the equation that the Saints knowingly unbalanced, receiving the penalty of their own actions.

This calls for another beer

Lots of players don't get it together until they get to a second team. Hopefully Anthony isn't one of them.

It's still a bit befuddling how he produced as he did the first year then goes on to fade as much as he has.

They were playing some replays on NFL Network today and I saw him looking lost on the field. Not good. Now he seems to be consistently injured too. Keep hoping he turns it around but it just does not look good. Shame.

SA has missed almost two weeks of practice. It could be time for "bust" talk pretty soon.

Cowboys lost their starting Mike to an ACL... Call up Jerry and make a deal.

Anthony for Collins?

Won't all of this talk be moot if Stupar's injury is serious?

Don't like, Don't trust Lael Collins - that whole thing of don't draft me, then Jerruh & Big D and Collins have a big love-fest press conference announcing his signing for serious quan...

And both parties admitted collusion and Rodger did nothing...Hadn't see a conspiracy that nasty in Dallas since JFK...

Don't want a guy like that anywhere near our locker room especially when we have two guards better than him anyways...

Besides, got a feeling Anthony will bounce back and play some of his best football once DA does his job and makes this work...

Teo', Anzalone & Robertson have past injury histories. Having SA as depth could be his only saving grace.

If it came to a choice between Anthony or Bighill, and it could, I'd go with Bighill. Bighill looks more comfortable in the system just since training camp than Anthony has in two seasons.

Just my 2¢.

Completely agree! His football IQ seems to be way higher than Anthony... Just always seems to be around the ball...

jeanpierre 08-28-2017 12:41 AM

Re: Saints believe 'it won't be too long' before Stephone Anthony returns

Well something f*cking happen between Anthony's first season and now, and I know his football IQ didn't suddenly dropped...

You don't get 112 tackles, one sack, one interception, and two forced fumbles as a Rookie by not being around the ball...

Anthony was the first Saint rookie linebacker to record 100+ tackles since Dome Patrol Legend Rickey Jackson...

Besides leading all NFL rookies in tackles, Stephone also returned and scored the first blocked kick for 2pts in NFL history...

It's simple - Stephone Anthony's decline coincides with Dennis Allen becoming the Defensive Coordinator...

Dennis Allen needs to extricate his head from his @ss and find a way to make this work with Anthony...

If not, this is on Sean Payton and the Mickster to reclaim their reps as competent NFL Personnel People...

They've got to get these two on the same page as the Saints need Anthony's first round talent on the field...

Working for them, not another team, against them...

I completely agree with every word. I think Allen don't like the kid because Ryan drafted him. I also think the only saving grace he has might be in Nolan, but Nolan has to be careful because Allen is Paytons boy.

Not sure why we are so concerned with Anthony getting in the field. If he got beat out, appears he did, or isn't available because he can't stay healthy how does that fall on Allen?

K Major 08-28-2017 08:00 AM

Re: Saints believe 'it won't be too long' before Stephone Anthony returns

B&G,
IIRC you predicted that Stephone would be cut this year. Initially I thought it was an extreme prognostication but now it doesn't appear to be that far fetched .

Re: Saints believe 'it won't be too long' before Stephone Anthony returns

To be honest, I really don't care if he starts or not. I just want the best 3 out there. I mean, sure it'd be great if we didn't blow a first round pick a few seasons ago, but at this point I'm happy with whoever gives the defense the best chance.

Re: Saints believe 'it won't be too long' before Stephone Anthony returns

I agree with best 3 (or 4 in some cases) on the field. I don't see it being Anthony though. Said it numorous times. Something is going on with Anthony we don't know.

If Stupar needs to hit IR with his quad then we'll keep Anthony for insurance. I hope he gets his act together. We'll see what Nolan can do with hm.

Re: Saints believe 'it won't be too long' before Stephone Anthony returns

Anthony is 3-4 ILB. I think he's having a hard time adjusting to the 4-3 as well as him not necessarily being used to his strengths.

First concern is how can the organization can not continue to throw away first round picks and be successful?

Second concern is how does a player who balls out his rookie season forget to play middle linebacker?

Have no problem with the fact the guy may have been beaten out, but when you combine both those issues, there may be a problem with another @sshole on the team that's not warranted...
