Joe Haden

With Delvin looking to possibly go down the IR road for the beginning of the season, what are your thoughts on bringing this guy in? I know we tried to trade for him last year and it fell through due to him want whole farm, but maybe we should try again?

Yes! Perfect veteran CB to take Breauxs place!

I'm guessing he's going to want to much monies for us to afford...

With the first 4 games, we surely could use him.

One thing to note, Aaron Glenn has been preaching the importance of communication in the secondary. Both verbal and non-verbal. That only comes with familiarity. Throwing a new variable into the formula could be problematic. Subtraction through addition. I think he would be more comfortable going with what he currently has in place rather than throwing an injury prone monkey wrench into the works.

I can't say no enough to this. NO. NO NO NO.

Don't need him. Don't need the expense. Don't need the risk. Don't need to keep going around this mountain -- we have our future here, leave it alone.

Regarding Aaron Glenn's methods:

This is true. For the record, I say pass. I wouldn't be upset if we got him for a reasonable price but I'm not benching Lattimore or Williams for him.

And who gets cut? Just what we need, another CB that can't stay healthy.

Are we just that loaded at corner where the Saints would have no use for Joe ? As pathetic as the Browns were last season, he still was able to muster up 3 INT's and 11 passes defended (probably would have led our team with those stats in 2016). I'm looking at JP's roster/depth chart and I don't see a whole lot of world beaters on the boundaries. Outside of Sterling, there isn't much experience at the position.

I'm glad the Saints are at least expressing interest.

Re: Joe Haden

It's just too close to start of season to add him without effing things up. Had the Browns cut him in June and we had a plan to make the money work and get him integrated into our defense, that would have been more sensible.

I'm down. A change of scenery may do him well. He doesn't have to come in and be a starter.

And he'd be happy rotting on the bench at 28yo? No, if he comes here, it'll be to start...

Joe Haden's release will be official at 4pm today; it will be interesting if the Saint are really in play for him...

I'm very happy with the way the secondary has looked so far. That said, I think Haden would definitely improve the unit from day 1.

He has to clear waivers first... then

ChrisXVI 08-30-2017 02:44 PM

Re: Joe Haden

He's been in the league more than four years so he's not subject to the waiver process. He's taking a visit to Pittsburgh and by all accounts if he passes the physical he will be a Steeler.

triman 08-30-2017 02:54 PM

Re: Joe Haden

I think that if the money is right ,we would be silly not to add veteran depth.Pass the physical and he would be better than most of our CBs
Possibly a difference maker on a team desperate for one on Defense.
Darren Sharper difference maker! Loomis make it happen!

Re: Joe Haden

Retraction . I went and looked at PFF. Haden has had five yrs as an elite CB.
The last two have been very poor . I Remember the good years didn't realize how much he had declined. Still might be worth a shot for the right money .Players often do well with a change of scenery. Aaron Glenn should be a good judge of that haven coached him for years.

Funny how the Rooney family is all about above board and fair play and yet he was signed after what must have been very expedient negotiations within minutes of the 4pm official time...

Don't get me wrong, I'm ready to watch the Saints geaux to war with the soldiers we have and feel very good about our prospects, but shady sh*t like this really makes me take issue...
