You don't think? Realistically, anyone past 2nd string is there specifically to play special teams, at any position. Sometimes you get lucky and find a guy who is also pretty good at whatever position he's listed at, but these guys make their living on special teams.

I don't get your point, sorry.

We have no depth whatsoever on the O-Line now. We've gotta be hitting the waiver wire really hard.

There are some veterans out there who might have something left in the tank, like Winston and Zuttah.

SS T.J. Ward?

The saints with a modern day SS to counter the pass happy NFL would be a dream come true.

TJ would help Williams out in his rookie year.

I would fall out my chair if the saints actually got a true all around SS.

Much like Steve Gleason, Chris Reis, Fred McAffee etc...

You obviously have no memory of us running out of RBs in a Seattle playoff game we were unable to run out for the win...

Defense stayed on the field too long, got exposed, and then Beastmode was born and our defense has sucked balls since...

And a NFL franchise in the Northwest has been an NFC contender ever since that utter embarrassment on national tv...

Cadet cut, likely to be claimed by the Jets

You know, I don't get the hate by some fans on Cadet; we all knew he wasn't a 20+ carries a game guy...

But he's was always available, very reliable hands, knew his assignments, and rarely missed a block...

That catch he made on the sideline against the Ravens, even some of the best RBs don't keep that drive alive with that catch...

He's like a baseball utility player...
He isn't really great at anything, but pretty good at several things.

Yep, that's the right analogy - won't overwhelm the stat book, but team players that contribute like the play I mentioned...

...and those guys are the difference makers - Patriots don't win any of those early titles without Kevin Faulk...

Why not? Fifth WR isn't likely to be active for most games anyways...

So we're going four WR's and five RB's... Who saw that coming?

Loewen is probably why they rolled the dice on cutting McDaniel.

Veteran DT's on life support just don't get claimed before the season starts since their salary becomes guaranteed.

Don't know who gets the ax after that tho. Tony should be back after week 1.

I feel like we need better quality receivers.

Out of Ted Ginn, Brandon Coleman and Tommy Lee, we could lead the league in dropped passes.

Is anyone a little surprised that Edmunds made it over Victor?

Both looked great, but I thought Victor shined a tad more in the games. Edmunds must have splashed more in practice.

Watch Edmunds beat out Lasco at the #4.

My initial impression is that with the 3 game suspension of Snead, Saints have opportunity to look at Edmunds vs Lasco for a few weeks - one likely gone by the time we fly to London...

I liked Victor, reminded me of former G'nats great RB Joe Morris and if we hadn't signed AP, he makes this roster...

Lampmann was a late cut because Lampmann vs Lasco are even gunners, Lasco had better position performance than Lampman...

Had Jake had more reps, and made the few he had count, I think Lasco was in deeper trouble...

According to NFL.com, the Broncos are going to cut Ward Saturday. Ward was entering the fourth year of his $22.5 million contract, but the team felt that Justin Simmons, a third-round pick in 2016, was ready to take over the role so they were comfortable parting ways with the veteran.
Broncos reportedly release safety T.J. Ward | NFL | Sporting News

Just had to post it. We traded from the third to the second to get Bell and could have just taken Justin Simmons in the 3rd

Had Simmons rated higher Bell in that draft. Just tooting my horn before the kid even starts LMAO. could end up eating crow

Bell looks to Williams back up

My short list round 2 on was
Sean Davis
Justin Simmons
Deon Bush
Mils Killebrew
Darian Thompson
Von Bell

2016
1 - Laremy Tunsil ROT Ole Miss 6050 310
2 - Jarran Reed, DT/DE, Alabama 6034 307 5.21
3 - Justin Simmons DB Boston College 6025 201 4.53
4 - Matt Judon, DE, Grand Valley State 6030 275 4.73
5 - DJ Reader NT Clemson 6025 327 5.33
7 - Kalan Reed CB Southern Miss, 5111 192 4.42

Round 1 Laremy Tunsil vs Sheldon Rankins is still developing

Round 2 it was hard to argue with Michael Thomas pick though i did go with Jarran Reed almost took Sean Davis but thought he would last till the third. wrong again.

Round 2 Justin Simmons vs Von Bell. Bell still has his rookie contract to prove me wrong, i hope he does. Simmons is getting his shot.

David Onyemata vs Matt Judon is a fight one i am really enjoying watching. both are looking really good

Stray thoughts

Go sign Ward already. He has a dead cap of $1,250,000 already. I se the Pats going after him. They are all in for another ring

jeanpierre 09-02-2017 05:59 PM

Re: Roster Cutdown Mega-Thread

Totally agree, Hagan...Never like trading two picks for one, it rarely works for us and limits darts on the draft dart board...

And I want guys that can play, but we've got a little too much Buckeye for my liking, though I'd gladly keep Thomas, a steal...

Let's just hope Lady Luck smiles on us with Lattimore and I'll be Golden...

Re: Roster Cutdown Mega-Thread

second thought pass on TJ Ward and stick with youth movement and look to next years draft and save the cap space

Round 1 Ronnie Harrison, SS Alabama 6011 214 4.57 #15 Jr
Round 2 Quin Blanding SS/FS Virginia 6011 205 4.58 #3 Jr

Wild card Kyzir White SS/OLB West Virginia 6025 215 4.56 #8 Sr

Numbers game. We already had Klein, Te'o and Robertson. I'm sure he'll be a priority PS signing.

We still have Anthony don't we? I'd take Bighill over him and I like Anthony but it's all about making plays...

Anthony looked great at WLB until he he got hurt.

Bighill is more likely to clear and sign to our PS than Anthony.

Cruize 09-02-2017 06:15 PM

Re: Roster Cutdown Mega-Thread

Bighill is just a straght up football player. He should have made the roster. He made plays against the run and pass. I just don't get the Lasco love. He's not the RB Cadet is and he hasn't flashed on special teams enough to keep him around.

Anthony looks lost more than anything else. The difference between him and Teo', Klien, Robertson and Anzalone is staggering. Bighill was the 5th best LB in preseason. Not even close. That being said, I think he will make the PS.

Not surprised. T.E. showed good hands in preseason. Some of his touches in the run game where wrecked by our backup O-Line. He's also faster & has great size. Really hope we can keep Victor on P.S.

He's also Ferrell Edmunds' kid & y'all know how we love that.
