Re: Ryan Ramczyk finds his place: From out of football to New Orleans Saints' 1st-round pick
If you like Ramczyk just because he sports the fleur-de-lis, this story will make you really love the guy...

Re: Ryan Ramczyk finds his place: From out of football to New Orleans Saints' 1st-round pick
By the time the second half started, the player Wisconsin coaches had seen in practice was taking over the game.
"There’s a play in the second half where he’s coming through on a combo, and this guy rocks out, and a lot of guys would have lost body control right there," Rudolph said. "He stays up, picks off the play-side 'backer and the back-side 'backer, and the back runs into a big hole right there for a huge gain." This is the same thing I saw and it made me sit up in my seat and take notice. He went from a font 10 to a bold font 14 on my scouting list. A key player to make sure I watch every week. He just kept getting better and stayed on that list all season long and through the beauty pageant. Ramczyk, Williams and Henderson were all on my Bold Font 14 wish list all season long. Now they are saints and three fat azz crows are in my freezer. Watch his play at the second level and screen. He still needs to adapt to the speed of the NFL game so give him time. But he seldom misses an assignment and is always looking for the next victim Top 15 based on ceiling is a scary thing. I was gun shy to be honest but to grab him at 32 is a solid roll of the dice. I like him over Peat all day long. |

Re: Ryan Ramczyk finds his place: From out of football to New Orleans Saints' 1st-round pick
There's such an epidemic of terrible O-Line play in the NFL; just look at the Seahawks, Giants, Texans, etc in yesterday's games. Can we take a minute to appreciate our front office taking O-Linemen like Peat and Ramczyk in the first rounds when almost all of the fans were pounding the table to reach for defensive players?!

And it all starts with five guys up front, If they can't block, or open holes. What good is your QB or your RB. |

Re: Ryan Ramczyk finds his place: From out of football to New Orleans Saints' 1st-round pick
As far as the offensive line, the only criticism I have is not closing the deal and getting Kevin Zeitler and over-spending on Warford - this is frustrating as they've not learned from their mistakes and repeated the Grubbs for Nicks grosse error; the stars aligned for a perfect Guard to fall into our laps and Loomis shat his hat...
They drafted Armstead, Peat, Ramczyk; Armstead has developed brilliantly. Peat unhappy with not playing his natural position of LT is finally settling in as a G; Ramczyk was supposed to be transitioned to from Strief, but the Armstead injury precluded that from happening; Kelemete was already on the roster as our sixth man... I give the team a A- for the plan and a C+ for the execution - not getting Zeitler and overpaying for Warford; and not having a suitable backup after poor injury management for Unger... |
It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

The Grubbs/Warford comparison makes my skin crawl. I watched him against the Vikings and he looked a little soft and slow.....but then so did our entire line. God, I hope Warford is better than Grubbs.
I was banging the drum for Zeitler too. Now I'm just banging my head. |
