Cleveland has a good D and actually played well. They are about 2 pieces away from being pretty good.

Re: Saints at Vikings MNF Gameday Thread

#1 concern? PJ Williams. He was not playing like his old self. tentative.

Secondary is young and it showed. a bunch of individuals out there. not a unit

DL can be handled with a single blocking scheme.

Offense? Strief goes down and it was all over with. we all knew it.

On the bright side we did not get hammered as bad as one would have thought on the score board.

Pats coming of a loss next week? oh man

The Adrian Peterson signing just didn't make any sense. This isn't Madden. He looks bad in our offense and he's already frustrated by Sean Payton. This is clearly Alvin Kamara's team now as far as the RB position is concerned.

If Payton doesn't start winning, this locker room is going to get sour real quick.

Re: Saints at Vikings MNF Gameday Thread

The game has passed Payton by. We don't understand the current meta of the NFL - be fairly simple but very versatile. Lots of play action with quick passing to negate the linebackers and the defensive speed in the NFL. The Lions, Falcons and now the Vikings seem to implement this pretty well, among other teams.

Our playbook is voluminous and we are trying to win by constantly rotating offensive personnel. And then on defense where a personnel rotation/benching is needed most (Devante), we do nothing.

We are bringing a swiss army knife to a gunfight, and it seems more and more likely Payton will go down with said swiss army knife.

Just read a very similar opinion over at WalterFootball:

I thought Sean Payton had an awful performance. His play-calling was terribly predictable; his team ran the ball almost every single time Peterson was on the field. Payton also gave the Vikings a free touchdown right before halftime, calling two timeouts when it wasn't clear if Minnesota could convert a first down deep in its own territory. Payton also made very poor decisions in the red zone, whether it was running the ball too frequently or kicking a field goal late in the third quarter when a touchdown was needed. Payton was once known as one of the top coaches in the NFL, but it's fair to wonder if, as with Jeff Fisher, the game has passed him by.
neugey, SmashMouth and jeanpierre like this.

"When you get into one of these groups, there's only a couple of ways you can get out. One, is death; the other, is mental institutions."
