And the whole thing about third down conversions...why does it always have to be third down conversions? Is that what this offense relies on? I just think Payton needs to go. I'm sick of all the malfunctioning issues on offense.

Patriots are missing lots themselves... it's merely an excuse. The coaching is not up to par anymore. Some of the players have quit listening. The attitude of the players during the game spelled volumes. So sad. I wish it were different... it just isn't.

People tend to bring up third downs a lot, but it's such an obvious statement to say that if we struggle on third down, we're going to struggle in general. Of course you have to convert on third down. But is it just third downs? What are we doing on first and second down to set up more manageable third downs?

That's what people miss when they just make blanket statements about needing to convert on third down. We're just not good enough, right now, and that means we're not getting it done on any down.

I'm tired of the malfunctioning as well, Will. We do have some injuries that aren't helping, but this kind of play is not terribly new, regardless.

Exactly what I wanted to point out. At one point, they were down to two receivers and had a fullback spread out. They still made our defense look like melting butter.

The only positive I can take away from today is how surprisingly great Romo was as a color commentator. Too bad we'll be back to Kenny "the corpse" Albert next week probably.

As I sit self-medicating, I can't help but wax nostalgic for the days of dependability on offense like, Deuce and Colston.

+1. Brady was missing his biggest WR target underneath ... Edelman in addition to Amendola & Hightower. Tom still sliced us up with back up RB/FB's (Burkhead) on simple passing routes.

This team has run out of excuses.

Nothing like the pain of crushed expectations. We were supposed to lose these games, but the manner of losing was just terrible. Injuries helped, but Patriots played without there 3 starting wide receivers and Bellicheck had a plan. Really a sad start to the season.

It's called no talent. Missing on free agents and missing on draft picks in last 5 years. It doesn't matter who the DC is on this team. Payton, Loomis and now Ireland all responsible. Now offense has regressed, so having to see more of the defense.
