I knew our defense would be bad today... We all did. But the Patriots defense is awful, and I thought this offense should be able to reach the thirties against them. What do they do? They put up over 400 yards and score 20 big ol' points.

Ok, that still doesn't help the defense get any better. Even with Snead this offense isn't good enough to score enough points to keep up with even a mediocre team. The defense needs to help. We've tried to rely on the ole "we will just outscore them" approach for too long. Brees is past that point in his career and he doesn't have enough help on the offensive line to make up for it.

No, Snead alone is not the issue with the offense. But, add to Snead the missing starting left and right tackles and that might have something to do with the inability to convert on those 3rd downs.

You know I never said that losing a starter isn't a bad thing. That is foolish. What I said was if something bad happens you have to look at what positives can be gained from it. Ramczyk is gaining very valuable experience. Not under the most ideal of situations, but valuable none the less.

Missing Snead doesn't help, but it's not enough of an excuse. The Patriots offense seems fine without Edelman.

When things are going good, Brees is a genius and makes average players look better. When things are bad, we suddenly cannot live without a receiver who we picked up off the scrapheap. Don't get me wrong, I like Willie as a player. But we can't fall apart all because he isn't playing.
