Ok..On to The Panthers

Since I got some sleep..I have had a chance to let the anger of this weekends games go. Lets talk about the Panthers.

IMO..the only chance we have against them is to throw the ball. They are very very stout against the run so far this yr. Mccoy only got only got 9 yrds rushing against them. Carlos Hyde only got 45 yrds against them in week 1. If we go into this trying to be "balanced" this game will get out of hand. We need to revert to the days of pass to set up the run. Its the only chance we have i feel.

Now onto our defense. I think this Carolina team is one our group should be able to handle. Newton is still rusty as hell. He was sacked 6 times yesterday. So I think we need to just go all GW on them and blitz early and often. I don't see any other way to play defense atm with this group. We struggle to play zone, we struggle to play man, what else is there but to just say fack it..blitz the hell out of them.

All I have..what do you guy's think?

In fact, that should be the defensive game plan from here on out. Maybe throw in a few fake punts.

Definitely agree with blitzing. Look if you're gonna get burned, go down swinging, you may land a haymaker once in a while

We should smash the panthers this week. If we end up losing I'm certain SP and company is gone. Puts a drew signing next year 50/50.

Re: Ok..On to The Pathers

I think we should pound the run for the first 2 quarters then after halftime mix with more passing. This way we'll control the clock. Our kicker is better than theirs. They could only score 3 field goals against Buffalo? wow

brees84 09-18-2017 06:49 PM

Re: Ok..On to The Pathers

Greg Olsen got injured. He won't play. Maybe Vaccaro can stop Ed Dixon? Maybe...

Mccaffrey scares me. We can't set the edge. And this kid is special. Better than Cook from Minnesota.

Stop the run and make Cam throw the football. The way he plays this season even our secondary has a chance.

If Mccoy and Hyde could only combine for 55 yards rushing, what chance do we have? Those are teams built to run the ball and couldn't. Run the ball 2 quarters will be a recipe for failure IMO.

It sure would be a lot better than not knowing what the hell we're doing at all!

Excellent game plan. And if running doesnt work, PASS SOME MORE. Dont waste downs on runs. If you just need to feel like we're running, THROW A SHORT PASS to a running back. There-- We ran. Lets stop pretending we can run.

I'd like to add to Charity Mike's Game Plan this: "One receiver, one man"... Use the rest to spy out Cam Newton, because he is not a quarterback. He is an oversized RB, who sometimes throws, and not very well. #1, pretend you're covering (like you've done for 2 weeks), but really, set up to stop Newton's runs... Thats the only real thing he can do to you. Force him to pass, and we'll finally get some INTs.

That said, Kick Their Azz !!!!!!!!!

It is bad news for Mr Olsen, and I hope for a healthy recovery, I don't wish injury on any player, but that should help us somewhat.....a little "break" for is..

Drew won't sign next year regardless. I believe he will go to a team that is a QB away from being a legit contender. He will want to go out a winner. He doesn't have anymore time to waste on a Saints team that fails year in year out.

RailBoss 09-18-2017 08:54 PM

Re: Ok..On to The Pathers

If SP is gone so is Drew, maybe he'll go back to the Chargers. Wait he can't do that either they don't know him in LA. The weather is nice in Miami though and after they get a load of Cutler they will pay Brees a Kings ransom.

Re: Ok..On to The Pathers

Defense: Devin Funchess. He is going to get more work. Double team him. Make Cam run. Cam doesn't like to run anymore so force him to do it. He will slide early.

Offense: Deep strikes early. No field goals inside the 20. Abandon the field goal almost entirely. If we kick an early FG inside the 5 I'm turning off the game.

Our offense could barely score vs a Patriots D that allowed 42 points the week prior. Now we face a D that hasn't allowed a TD in 2 weeks.

You are stating that Drew Brees will definitely sign with someone other than the Saints next year, right? Care to place a wager on that?

I've been doing it for 50+ years. No reason to stop now. I've got Saints underwear older than many of these fans that are freaking out.

Agreed, the balance of run/pass only works if you can actually run the ball. So sticking with that game plan, if we are unable to run again, for any length of time is a mistake as we have seen in the first 2 games.
Sacking Cam would mean we would have to actually get pressure to him, again, not something we have seen.
So although I agree, losing Olsen helps us a lot, if there is no pressure on Cam, Benjamin will kill us and McCaffery will fill in where Olsen bails them out. Out of the first three games, this is the one we have the best chance in. Hopefully both offense and defense gets in sync, if so, we win.

After two weeks, the Panthers rank #1 in TOTAL DEFENSE.

#2 in PASSING DEFENSE.
#6 in RUSHING DEFENSE.

Some will argue that their front 7 is better than Minnesota.

Our offense MUST PLAY ELITE FOOTBALL on Sunday to have a chance... in all phases of the game.

Let's say all parties decide to do this. Where is he going to go? The only teams I can think of off the top of my head are the Vikings and Denver.

We got stopped by a Patriots D that ranked dead last before entering the game.

This offense is not the saints of old, I don't think we have a chance and this could seriously be a shut out.

To be fair, Carolina has faced two of the weakest offenses in the league their first two games.

Asylum,

They can only dominate who is on the schedule. Carolina front 7 is good.

The Saints must find a way to create turnovers/and or pass rush, defensive stops on 3rd down. Oh, and develop a run game.

You signed AP to run the ball, might as well use him.
