Re: Rookie of the Year

It hasn't been too often Payton's Saints had a good draft, but so far five draft picks started (e.g. Lattimore, Ramczyk, Williams, Anzalone) or played significant time (e.g. Kamara)...

And we haven't seen Hendrickson at full force yet! Or given Al and opportunity yet...

Staying healthy will be a key aspect of this 2017 draft class with some having serious pre-draft health questions (i.e. Lattiomore, Ramczyk, Anzalone)...

Second Guessing, Criticism of the Draft?

Anzalone is already lost for the season with the same shoulder that limited him the entire time he was at Florida...

Wait for it (Cue the LSU Fight Song) LSU linebacker Kendell Beckwith was still on the board and looks great for the Bucs...

Also, Oakland DT Eddie Vanderdoes starting and would have been great to shore up our defensive interior line was available...

Payton still reaching - we gave up a second round pick in an expected loaded draft in 2017 for Aalvin Kamara, who's in a loaded backfield...

Later in the third round, KC took a kid named Kareem Hunt who's leading the NFL Rookie of the year candidates...

We're getting much better in the draft and Kamara has looked great, but Payton has to be stopped from reaching in drafts...

Despite the unnecessary reach, the draft class looks to be one of the best in the last ten years for not only the Saints, but the entire NFL...

If SP did not have LSU phobia, just how much better could be we? How many of the 2014 draft class are solid contributors?

Round 1 — (12) Giants – Odell Beckham Jr., WR
Round 2 — (51) Bears – Ego Ferguson, DT
Round 2 — (55) Bengals – Jeremy Hill, RB
Round 2 — (63) Dolphins (from Broncos through 49ers) – Jarvis Landry, WR
Round 3 — (92) Panthers – Trai Turner, OG
Round 5 — (156) Broncos (From Bears) – Lamin Barrow, OLB
Round 6 — (178) Titans (From Redskins) – Zach Mettenberger, QB
Round 6 — (181) Texans (From Raiders) – Alfred Blue, RB

Don't forget Deion Jones, he's a great player for the falcons.

I break with the Louisiana Brethren and Sisters that we should draft LSU players on the Saints roster, unless they provide value, need and don't cost us much; I'm more of a greater SEC fan anyways - whoever is the hot team to keep the Championship down South...

Beckham would've cost us too much to move up to get; I loved Cooks, but he cost us too much in that draft to move to No. 20; if anything, we've learned we need 6'3" receivers in for our offense to conclude business in the red zone - pass

What's interesting is that the third round pick we traded to the Chiefs for Cooks turned into WR Conley and the next pick was Trai Turner to the Panthers; again the Payton costs success with his moves up the draft...

Ego has two sacks in three years - pass...

Jeremy Hill is a piece of scheit who, among other things, sucker-punched someone; that's a coward - pass...

I'll give you that Jarvis Landry would've been head and shoulders a better pick than Stanley Jean-Baptiste, but so would nearly 100 players drafted after or not drafted at all, including Allen Robinson, two picks before Landry...

My concern is this year's draft; am holding my breath that Lattimore is passed his injuries; but I keep seeing these PFF posts that Tre White is rated better than Lattimore, now that is one the LSU WETSU's might end up with one helluva beef with SP...

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

Odell's not going to be a contributor now....oh well. This is the Giant's season to give a miss anyway.

He probably wouldn't do too well with us since our offence works in a way that doesn't feature the RB.

Re: Rookie of the Year

I never judge rookies, for the most part till their rookie contracts are up.

then redraft through FA to correct your mistakes.
