Do Saints Need To Make Trades For The 2017 Season?
Well, it looks like the injury bug is starting to bite us early already this year.
Saints FO totally failed on not vetting a cardiac problem more fully before signing Fairley to an extension and likely missed opportunities to get better defensive interior talent... Then they really failed to get a proper assessment of the injury to Delvin Breaux, who should finally be returning to us in four more weeks, with another three weeks to get to speed... Strief hurts more from a leadership standpoint, though the extra body in the Offensive line rotation is troubling... Though the rest of our offensive line is getting healthier, we really only have one utility lineman, albeit a good one, in Senio Kelemete now... Anzalone had first round talent, seventh round health/constitution; but it's now left of with four of the six linebackers we broke camp... Mitchell Loewen was a sparkplug breaking camp, now on IR; we have just three interior defensive linemen now with Rankins, Onyemata and Davison, playing average ball, with little impact... I know Kamara is playing well, but hated the cost of a second round pick in what should be an even deeper, talented draft in 2018... Hate that our BYE weeks seem to come early, so this is tough, but do we need to make trades now for this season, or just wait a few more weeks and see how things play out? |
It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

Re: Do Saints Need To Make Trades For The 2017 Season?
I was looking at the trade block and two interesting names popped up:
1. Jarvis Landry, WR - Miami Dolphins • I know what you’re thinking: Why trade for a WR? I’m really high on Jarvis Landry. He’s the elite version of what we have in Willie Snead. Could you imagine the 4 WR sets with Thomas and Ginn on the outside and Landry and Snead on the inside? What about adding Kamara coming out of the backfield to that? It’s not like we couldn’t use some explosiveness on that side of the ball. I know I’m not the only one who has noticed our offense isn’t as high powered as it once was. 2. Mychal Kendricks, OLB - Philadelphia Eagles • With Alex Anazalone going down last week we could use the depth and speed at the position. We already know what Craig Robertson brings to the table, but he can’t match the speed and quickness of Anzalone. Kendricks, on the other hand, can. |

O-line depth is my biggest concern.
I would not be against giving up a 5th pick or higher for another utility linemen NFL.com and espn are both saying AP is on the block. I know it's been beat to death on the other threads, but maybe AP is the luxury we give up for OL or LB depth |

Wish we had a good WR to spare because the Giants would give up a king's ransom right about now...

Re: Do Saints Need To Make Trades For The 2017 Season?
I really would like to shore up the O-line a little but I don't see a trade that would be worth what we would have to give up in the form of draft picks or quality players.
As much as I like AP he is the only guy I view as expendable but at this point I don't think he would give much in return. |
