I remember people on this board calling for Brees to be traded years ago.I didn't agree with them then and I don't agree with them now. A true franchise QB is very hard to get, much less a HOFer. We ride Brees to the very end, and hopefully by then we will have someone good waiting in the wings to take his place. I really hoped that was going to be Chad Kelly last draft, he was still available at the end, was shocked that no one grabbed him up in the 7th rnd, as if that would have been any risk at all. Oh well.

I want to see Brees retire as a Saint almost as much as I want to see us win another SB

I'm not sure if you saw the Brees interview on Sunday, but he once again said explicitly that he will remain a Saint only and still plans to play for several more years.

It still cracks me when I'm watching the game in public and inevitably you hear someone turn to another member in their party and ask Brees played for the Chargers?

Even more telling is he was taken one round after recently inducted HOF RB LaDainian Tomlinson...

To be honest, I became a Brees fan because I went to NC State. Whoa! Let me explain. I have followed all Wolfpack QB's since the mid 70's at least (Roman Gabriel was an earlier exception). Therefore, when Philip Rivers went to the Chargers in that draft/trade fiasco I wanted him to get the start. But, this damned Drew Brees dude kicked his game up several notches and wasn't letting him have the chance. I watched lots of their games and gained great respect. When the time came and it all worked out I was ecstatic! My wife ordered me the original 2006 Brees jersey before the preseason and I have worn it every game since.

And, yes, I am taking it on our two week cruise leaving this weekend.

P.S. I will be on top of my fantasy team so watch out.

Good Luck with That!

Had followed Brees since Purdue; see a lot of similarities between Brees and OU's Baker Mayfield...

I live in the country and have a radio! According to RR none of it was "his" fault.

That is exactly what he expressed in the one on one interview with Jimmy Johnson on the FOX pre-game and added that he plans to also play for several more years. It all came up when Johnson asked about any contract negotiations. Brees said there are none because he wanted to wait, but said it will get done for sure.
