this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; thinking back to the vikes game in particular i think it really showed how much we lack athletes on that side of the ball. i like the way we played the last 4 games last year and hope it continues. ...

i like the way we played the last 4 games last year and hope it continues. but when we play the better offenses its like we are in frozen mode and they are playing at full speed. |

Playoff chances hinge on our defense?
Let me think about that for a second ... YES !! I\'ve asked this question before, but let me pose it again: How many games are we suppose to win with the 32nd ranked defense? Year after year (and I don\'t give a damn what the ranking has been) our defense hasn\'t been able to stop ANYbody. And it\'s utterly amazing that fans focus on the offense. I still think that speaks directly to a person\'s football knowledge. Or against it. [Edited on 8/4/2005 by GumboBC] |

I don\'t see a whole lot of people on this board saying that our offense is the problem. When are people going to learn that saying that our defense is bad and needs to get much better does NOT mean that our offense has NO room for improvement. Our offense is far from perfect also. I see you talking about o-line and WR... are you one those fans that focuses on offense? What does it say about your football knowledge? You know what I see? I see a few fans focusing on 21 positions on the field and criticizing the play of pretty much all of them - except one. These fans don\'t put any blame whatsoever on one position. I still think that speaks directly to a person\'s football knowledge... or against it. |

But ... there are some people who blame the offense for this teams failures. More specifically ... they blame Aaron Brooks. Of course, you probably won\'t acknowledge this because you are too busy trying to do whatever it is you do. If no one is \"FOCUSING\" on the offense and blaming them for us not making the playoffs, then I\'m not talking about them. Since you seem to have gotten all worked up over my post, then maybe you are one of the guys who \"focus\" on the offense too much. [Edited on 9/4/2005 by GumboBC] |

No. Not this year. Not alone.
There are questions on both sides of the ball now. We have a new OC. Doesn\'t that scare anyone? The season hinges on whether this OC can call plays better than the old OC among other things. |

I agree with Gumbo......think about it. we was knockin on the door of the playoffs with the worst D in the league. Imagine if we had a decent Defense!
