D. Barnett, OJ Howard, Reuben Foster

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I believe these were probably some of the most coveted players by members here at B&G during the draft. All three were picked by other teams after we made our first round draft pick of Lattimore, who I really didn't ...

D. Barnett, OJ Howard, Reuben Foster

I believe these were probably some of the most coveted players by members here at B&G during the draft. All three were picked by other teams after we made our first round draft pick of Lattimore, who I really didn't want. Personally, I really wanted Reuben Foster. I haven't really followed how any of these other three players have done this year. Was wondering if anyone knew. I'm not too proud to say that I'm glad I was wrong about Latimore. If he can stay healthy I think he'll go down as one of the greatest players in Saints history.

OJ has played well thus far (where are you Hagan ?)... Barnett looks like a keeper but he has good talent along side that front 7. Watched Reuben get nicked up against the Cows ... he's already battling injuries. I just don't believe his body will hold up at this level.

I'm just glad we didn't pick that Taco Bueno Charlton guy. He will need a lot of coaching up.

I wanted Barnett, but I didn't think it was a possibility of Lattimore dropping to us and I most definitely didn't won't us to trade up. With that being said, I am overjoyed we picked Lattimore, dayum! I am happy with every selection. I was hoping we pick Obi over Williams and it turns out Williams was the better pick. I know it's too soon but this draft is most definitely a A+

Foster is a beast but he can’t stay on the field. Knowing what we now know I would take Lattimore and Ram before any other two. Our draft was amazing!

Barnett for me but with Lattimore dropping I totally get the pick. We practically stole him right there. Whenever a player falls like that with no real issues have to do it IMO. I remember some of the draft so called experts were stunned he fell to us.

Re: D. Barnett, OJ Howard, Reuben Foster

Im hoping I get OJ Howard on my fantasy team tomorrow. It depends on waiver order. Anyway. They said Lattimore was the best cover corner in the draft. A+ physicals. 6"1. 4.3 40. Long arms. Very fluid. Agressive tackler who is not afraid to stick his nose in there and mix it up even if hes not the biggest hitter. His only negative was a recurring hamstring issue in college which knock on wood hasnt been an issue. Crawley and Lattimore-best cover corners in the league? Possible. If we can ever get Crawley, Breaux and Lattimore out there together, we could be looking at a D worthy of a nickname. WhoDat!

Barnett is doing really well. He fell into a good situation in Phili. He is nothing flashy. Just a solid all around player that produces. Bradley Chubb is the same type of player.

Rueben has been a mixed bag. The biggest issue? He is in San Fran on one of the most dysfunctional defenses in the NFL. So it is hard to pass judgement

OJ is stuck in Tampa but they Bucs are starting to use him. They could have waited two games. Unless the QB play gets more consistent OJ will be wasted there. he gets a so so rating.

Latt gets me a crow sandwich if he can stay on the field.

Re: D. Barnett, OJ Howard, Reuben Foster

We would have struck gold on any of these three players, however, the impact that Lattimore and Ramcyzk have had on the team is something I’m not sure they could have had. What we found in Lattimore is a shut-down corner. He’s something that only comes along every five to ten years. As far as Ramcyzk, I was angry we drafted him, but hindsight is 20/20. We lost both of our starting tackles, so without him on the roster we probably would have to roll out there with a line of Peat/Kelemente/Unger/Warford/Harris at some point this season. I would have loved a combination of Lattimore, Foster/Barnett, and Williams all added to this young defense, but I think things turned out for the best. We’re in a prime position to add even more talent to that side of the ball next year via free agency and the draft. I’ll say it again, Eric Reid is somebody I have my eye on. I’d sign him even if we kept Kenny. That would really upgrade our 3 safety sets, with Reid being a natural free safety, we can still let Kenny handle the duties of a SS/Rover.

Side note - there were a few posters here who wanted T.J. Watt.

So far he's had 4 sacks, an interception and 26 tackles. Impressive thus far.
