A gut feeling led Alvin Kamara from Alabama to Tennesee — then good fortune led him to the Saints

Alvin Kamara remembers the feeling.

An undeniable, undefinable something, growing in the pit of his stomach, leaving Kamara unsettled, unable to ignore the eerie sense of wanderlust pulling him away from a place he'd chosen only a year earlier.

Kamara felt like it was time to transfer from Alabama.

"I had this gut feeling," Kamara said. "This isn't where I'm going to play my college ball."

Family, coaches and friends weren't so sure, not even after an ill-fated freshman year full of difficulty both unavoidable and self-inflicted. Kamara's mother, Adama, told her son things would be all right in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

But the feeling in the pit of Kamara's stomach wouldn't go away.

"I’m the type of person, I trust my gut, and when I get a feeling about something, I make a move based off of that," Kamara said. "I went against everybody. I was like 'Man, I'm gone.'"

Yeah, gotta admit I didn't like the trade in the draft at all...

But it's looking like we traded an end of the second round pick to get a future ProBowl RB now...

Reminds me Chris Johnson, but relies has more elusiveness...

Very, very smart, mature player who knows how to wait for his blocks...

Credit Sean Payton on the Kamara draft pick. Obviously he saw something "special" when others didn't. Did UT not utilize AK's skill set to its full potential? I don't include Saban because historically, they are always stacked at the RB position.

SP gets a ton of credit in my book on this one. A visionary on offense.

Side note - AK is leading the league in ypc (over 6.2 per carry). That's nuts.

I'm an SEC fan and pull for the SEC that has the best chance in the tournament which lately has been Bama...

But I'm always amazed reading interviews from players who met with Saban personally were intimidated into going there...

Les Miles was such a dote that even with the fertile recruiting grounds of the Louisiana Mississippi delta he couldn't keep up...

Coach O has one job - to keep the best Louisiana players at LSU and let Aranda and Canada put the pieces together...

Tennessee is another team, like LSU, amazes me that with all the talent they have, can't put it together...

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...
