Watch the play drew checks it down to ingram on that plat he probally scores hes wide open. So he was healty to be in the game

The playcall was just stupid.
We could have called almost anything except to force it into the second string tight end. And Hill has sucked.

I agree, MI was probably hurt or had the wind knocked out of him. I would have rather them call a roll out Brees throw to the endzone and throw out of bounds if nothing is there.

But to call a pass into double coverage over the middle is practically suicide.

Ingram was hurt you guys... he was questionable before the game with toe issues, gameplan was likely heavily on Kamara. Ingram got even more banged up during the game. I don’t blame the calls on the last drive... that was all brees.

I think that proves my point, Brees throws to a guy covered by 4 people and had Ingram wide open in the flat. That’s not bad play calling that’s bad decision making by Brees.

And the sad part is he wasnt forcing ANY passes earlier playing real smart for the most part. Except maybe his pocket presence on those sacks but felt like he played well up until Last throw. Saint do not know how to close out games

I think MI was hurt.
Look SP got ahead of himself. Kamara went down and MI was one injury away from totally destroying any gameplan SP had.

And the playcall at the end showed me that SP has lost his touch. He'll have to earn my respect again before I trust him as a playcaller.

He had eight game run heavy streak then in la he reverts back to payton of old. Then goes back to it against carolina and then reverts back in atl. Idk what his deal is but if you arent behind by two scores you continue to run the ball. Throw edmunds in there he is a hard nose runner if ingram was too hurt and see if he can handle it. That said i agree payton lost his touch and im not sure if he can earn my respect unless we win it all

It makes no sense. Freaking QB sneak and run the clock or something. Make Atl drain timeouts and kick a field goal. Run a flea flicker.... anything.
If you're going to force the ball, force it into Michael Thomas for frick sakes.

I love Brees but no way does Rogers throw that ball. It still has not registered for me. For one, even if it was a TD, plenty of time on the clock for them to score. Two, we did not need a TD. Get the 3 and give us a shot. Stupid. Really stupid and almost no QB would make that throw. It was not a do or die situation.

SP did the same last week vs Carolina.

Had a chance to get a long drive going up by 10 points, on 3rd and 1 at our own 25 yard lin he calls play action pass and Brees gets sacked. He was bailed out by a fumble on a punt return the next play.

SP made some real bad play calls by not running the ball, but this one falls squarely on Brees. He had the game in his hands, ATL was getting outside push but not much up front and he just wouldn't step up.

He's been missing wide open throws a lot this season.

We need to play lights out the next 3 games, if ATL and Carolina get on a win streak we are in for a bad end to December.

It was a bad decision by drew. That's what it was. Halo description of near suicide is accurate. You could run almost anything, but to run that...and to throw that with so much on the line and at leasta tie already guaranteed just makes 0 sense. If it is nipping at us this much as fans, I bet Drew hasn't come close to letting it go. He will, but I can guarantee he hasn't yet.

With everything the refs did we had that game in the bag with less than 2 minutes to go and it is upsetting because of that. We now need to get healthy because this is a really good team we have and if we can get healthy I think we are looking at 12-4 let the chips fall.

If there is one thing I observed, it is that Brees throws shorter passes than before, and is more susceptible to sacks than before. That's not on SP except for the fact that he isn't accommodating Drew. Drew is getting sacked on crucial third downs quite a few times this season and that's mostly a result of running the ball for little gains on first down or loss of yards, which puts the offense in a hole.

Passes get completed, but mostly they are screens to RBs and WRs. Short-yardage catches that don't result in first downs are an issue.

Another problem is the Oline not being disciplined enough because we always get too many offensive penalties. That could be the difference without Streif. He is not in there to set that team straight. That's a mostly young and immature oline.

In all honesty, if Ingram could not get first downs then we had to pass. The receivers aren't getting a lot of first downs with their catches, so we need three chances for a big catch. The tight-window throws is a fluctuator with our team...they help and hurt, like that int.

That's just it...we pass when from behind(even by a fg) and run when ahead. They just don't care about blowing teams out.

Because when we were on the streak, he got lots of rest. Unfortunately, that rest causes rust. Brees just does not look the same without the volume. I know people are saying we should run the ball, but running the ball does not help if it does not result in first downs or results in 3rd and longs.

And again, the reason Brees threw into that coverage is because in the past players caught those because of the "tight windows". Josh hill and Hoomanawanui are terrible players that need to go this offseason. They are not Shockey, Campbell, or Miller who blocked and caught passes.

I understand the frustration. You don't call plays for them not to work. What if we ran and Ingram fumbled the ball? Then it would be why didn't we throw...we have a HoF QB. I don't fault the Seahawks for calling a slant in the SB and throwing a pick. If it is executed as called it's a TD. Drew should have NEVER made that throw. He did. We still had a chance for OT and Sean went loco. The team will rally around that. The game last night will pay big dividends going forward. We're going to the playoffs. Enjoy the ride :)

I assume the play worked in practice and he went with it, more of a muscle / mind memory situation. Probably one of the worse decisions though of his career but with less ramifications for the time being. Could comeback and haunt us big time. We are really beat up right now.

Run the ball. Atlanta uses all their time outs. Try for the score if it's there. If not, take your chances in OT. Bad coaching. Bad execution on Brees. Fix was in. Worst officiated game ever. Yet, the Saints still had in in their grasp. But, I honestly let it go last night. Said a prayer for the injured. First as humans. Second as Saints. :) No worries.
