You have to understand less than 5 snaps is to give him some game time experience not to see if he going to be a impact. No way any player can cause a impact with 3 snaps their rookie season. The kid need some game time experience, something to help you evaluate his talent. Maybe, they're trying to keep his value less in order to sign him to a longer contract, I don't know, but I'll love to stop speculating and see the guy on the field. He might just be a difference maker, and activating him could better help evaluate him.

This defensive line coach has done wonders this year! If the team feels the need to go outside the roster then they have their reasons.

The problem with playing him five snaps a game is that you would have been taking impact players that have gelled off the field, and a few snaps could have impacted the flow of the game. The coaches see Muhammed at practice every day. We've only seen him perform against second and third string players in preseason.

Edit: I don't know anything about George Jonson. I hope he's another good retread for the Saints. Don't forget our D-line coach is good and with a vet he might get the concepts quicker.

They will use him on 3rd down this week. We will see what he’s got.

I'd rather move Rankins to DE and see if he could bump his production there, bring back Justin Zimmer who'd have an opportunity for some snaps at the DT3...

I'm with you Nola. I've actually asked several times on this forum on "why isn't he active this week?". Apparently the positional coaches & staff see it from a different perspective than we do . All I know is that during t/c & subsequent pre season games, he performed better than the man in front of him ... even in mop up duty.

My guess is that he is activated either this week vs the Jets or Tampa.

I'm reading this and I'm thinking Jake Delhomme. Cut by Parcells among others. Couldn't crack the lineup here unless the guy in front of him was hurt. The coaches never saw 'it' during the week. Guy comes in and lights it up.

Some guys need to be on the field. It's just not an exact science.

Hartford Ct Dwight Freeney. Would have loved to seen him in a Saints UNI.

I think of Ninkovich and Casillas. Seems like all of us saw potential and production, but the coaches didn't feel the same way. Then they went to other teams and shined.
