Vaccarro is a mediocre cover safety. He can play a zone decently and his ball skills are acceptable. He will pick it off if you make a mistake. He can not run with slot receivers or 3rd down backs. He blitzes well and hits likea LB. When he hits you, you going down. He's OK.

Inconsistent. Great plays. Bad plays. Better than no great plays at all. Won't be a Saint next year.

Re: Can we all agree, Vacaro....
If he wants $7 mill next year I'd say let him go get it.
Recently we've had to play a lot of 3 safety sets, primarily because of injuries/personnel. With depth in the def backfield now, he is a little bit more expendable. might even get a comp pick in the deal (unheard of, I know) https://overthecap.com/position/safety/ |

Re: Can we all agree, Vacaro....
For the Saints, KV is at his best when he is playing LB. He has the talent, but not the discipline to play a lot of coverage, and please do not ever line him up as the deep center guy in a cover 3. With that said, someone will overpay for him in free agency, and I just hope it's not another team in the NFC South. If he stays in the NFC South he will have at least 2 games per year that he is lights out.

Why pay a guy who plays decent in a LB role close up on the line? I wouldn't. ![]()
Eric Reid Kemal Ishmael Tavon Wilson Morgan Burnett All better viable safety options in 2018 FA. |

Re: Can we all agree, Vacaro....
Eric Reid is an interesting case. The 49ers have moved him to WLB because they preferred Jaquiski Tartt at SS. Curious to see if they invest in Reid to play that moneybacker role because if not he’d be the ideal Vaccaro replacement.

I'd be intrested in Reid if he became available.

Oh and speaking of Eric Reid... If we choose to go the draft route to replace Vaccaro then there’s Eric’s brother Justin Reid out of Stanford.

Re: Can we all agree, Vacaro....
Curious how much of the groin injury is still affecting him? That could definitely slow him down a step or 2 in coverage.
