this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Is everybody pretty satisfied with Klein? Do you feel good enough about him to move forward with him as our Mike next season? I don’t think he’s really much of a playmaker but he’s a smart player and that’s imperative ...

I mentioned this a few weeks ago but if you circle back to the 2017 off season, we attempted to draft Reuben Foster, acquire Navarro Bowman & Hightower (NE). That tells me that the FO is still committed to finding a true MIKE. Next year I think we either sign a STUD LB in the draft or acquire a vet who can cover, rush the passer & gets to the sidelines with authority. Keep an eye on Zach Brown and Nigel Bradham (FA's in 2018). Just my .02. |

Re: A.J. Klein Placed on IR
The defense looks a lot more organized and not as many guys out of position when Klein's on the field.

I'm not saying he's a top 5 linebacker in the league, but he is a huge upgrade from what we've had since Vilma left.![]()
Going back to the days of Jim Haslett, I always wanted the coaching staff to put more importance on the linebackers. Sam, mike, will, we've been weak there for decades. We can still use some improvement, but Klein is a great first step. |
