Bears expected to look at Pete Carmichael as head coach
The Chicago Bears are expected to move on from head coach John Fox after Sunday's Week 17 against the Minnesota Vikings and an early candidate for the job has emerged.
According to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael is expected to be a head-coaching candidate for Chicago this offseason. Carmichael began his coaching career at New Hampshire in 1994 as an assistant offensive line coach before taking the quarterback coach job at Louisiana Tech. He spent five years at Louisiana Tech before becoming a tight ends coach and offensive assistant for the Cleveland Browns in 2000. In 2001 he was an offensive assistant and quality control coach for the Washington Redskins before holding the same role for two seasons with the San Diego Chargers. In 2004 and 2005 he was the team's assistant wide receivers coach. The young coach joined Sean Payton in New Orleans in 2006 as the quarterbacks coach and held that role until he was named the offensive coordinator in 2009. That season the Saints won their first Super Bowl over Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV. It makes sense as to why Carmichael would be an option for the Bears considering his connection with general manager Ryan Pace. The duo worked together in New Orleans while Pace held the title of Professional Personnel scout, Director of Professional Scouting and lastly as the Director of Player Personnel. read more here SP coaching tree continues... | |

Long overdue, Carmichael should have been a HC a long time ago for someone.

Noooooooooo. F*** The bears. May they rot forever in football hell. Call me selfish, but I don't want any of our assistants going anywhere. There are plenty of ex Saints assistants looking for work, go hire one of them. Hell I'm willing to give up Loomis if anyone wants him. It took too many miserable years to put together a good coaching staff and I'm not excited by the prospect of any of them leaving.

I've never been too certain how much of the Saints offense was due to Pete and how much was due to Sean. I thought Pete sucked the year Sean was busy being spanked by godhell. Good luck to ya Pete.

I’m pretty sure Pete doesn’t want to be a head coach.
