Saints explain decision to shift Alvin Kamara to kickoff returner

Re: Saints explain decision to shift Alvin Kamara to kickoff returner
Same mentality as handing off to Ricky Williams on a sweep right behind Roaf. Put the ball in the hands of your BEST players.
Yes, it's dangerous for a star RB as Payton said but a RB could go down on any given play so why not? DO IT. This is go time. Leave it all on the table and have no regrets. We put our best cards on the field and play them and play them where there is opportunity in the second season where it counts for everything. If he gets hurt then so be it. Never have to second guess putting the best on the field. |

He scored a TD against the Bucs and we still lost; I get what you are saying but I don't like using him in that role. |

I probably wouldn't let him return kicks but I can certainly see why they would want to after seeing him take it to the house. My decision would be based on the fact that there aren't really that many opportunities to return kickoffs nowadays and when you consider that they get it on the 25 for a touchback, you have to be concerned that they will try to run it out when they should take a knee.

returner has been a weak spot for years.
I still look at player in FA and the draft that have return skill so the saints can minimize Kamara risk of injury |
