Jason Campbell overrated?
Maybe Mandel is a Tide or Auburn fan...
We\'ve debated Campbell before, and those who really seem most against him (myself - a Tide fan, and baronm - an Auburn fan) must\'ve lost our enchantment b/c we saw him so much in college.
I\'ll take nothing away from Campbell\'s ability, and I\'ll also concede he really had a brilliant season as a senior. Questions abound regarding whether Al Borgis (his 4th OC in 4 years) simply found a system to fit Campbell, or if he finally \"got it\" his senior year.
Borgis implemented a simplified, play-action oriented west coast offense. It utilized the superb talents of Ronnie Brown and Cadillac Williams (something previous Auburn OC\'s were mysteriously unable to do), drawing the defense into the box and making them more susceptable to the play-action pass. This kept defenses honest and gave Campbell more time in the pocket, where he performed brilliantly.
In his first 3 seasons, however, Campbell was the very definition of \"shell-shocked.\" He handled pressure terribly, and played even worse when frustrated and \"under the gun.\" He doesn\'t play well from behind (and the improvements on Auburn\'s defense helped him there last season).
A team who drafts him needs to provide good protection, as historically Campbell will crack under pressure. I don\'t put much faith in the Wonderlic, but I\'m told he scored poorly, so there may be doubts about his ability to retain a pro-style offensive scheme.
Just my opinion, but I think Campbell might be a nice fit for a team like the Ravens, Bills or Redskins (see other posts) who can supplement a simpler offense with strong defensive play, as well as featuing a capable RB to keep the opposing defense from \"sending the house.\" Campbell\'s fate - like so many others - will be determined by the system he\'s placed in.

good post-my thoughts excatly...he is a great guy and a decent college quarterback..but put pressure on him and he gets the deer in the headlights look.
the other thing not mentioned that bothers me is that he should up to the senior bowl with a slight belly..how do yougo from the season to poor conditioning? that is worrisome.
