Marcus Williams All Pro

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I really think what happened will fuel him to where he’s just going to be so dominant. Working harder and seeing things differently. He was a rookie with 5 picks and 70 tackles can see it happening....

Re: Marcus Williams All Pro

I'd like to believe that. What happened to him is going to be difficult to mentally rebound from. There are certain people that just ball up emotionally after things like this. There are some though that can use pain as fuel. I really believe what happened with him could have happened to anyone, which is what makes it so sad. He made a mistake that anyone could have made.... at the worst possible time. I really feel for him, I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. I mean that literally. As much as I hate the Falcons, I wouldn't even want that to happen to one of their players.

He made one bad play. That doesn't negate the phenomenal year he had as a 21 year old rookie

To be honest, if the organization and Drew Brees could reaffirm that he would be back for next year, the pain I am feeling could be a little bit bearable.

Re: Marcus Williams All Pro

I keep telling people. Nobody remembers it anymore now, but a young Tracy Porter whiffed on a couple of big plays in a game against the Redskins in 2008. The heartbreaking loss in the final minutes wasn't 100% "all" on Porter but he got turned around a few times and had a really rough day back there, and he gave up a big important TD play kinda late in the game that ended up being the difference. And Tracy came back the next year a better player, and I think things turned out pretty okay both for us and for him.

Love the guy. He made some monster plays this season. Now, if he was an Alex Molden or someone always getting torched then yeah but that is not the case. Can't expect rookies to play like an all pro vet. Take a step back to go a couple ahead sorta thing. He will be better. So will Lattimore. We are going to have a great secondary next year if they are out there.

Re: Marcus Williams All Pro

Marcus will become an All Pro.

The headlines from that game could have easily read "One half of Saints offense wasn't good enough". Our offense could barely sustain drives. Too much punting. One play was not the determining factor of the outcome.

IMO the Saints are only a few players away from getting back to where we want to be .

I've said it before, if we didn't have Lattimore as a rookie we would all be singing Williams praises like a gospel choir.

When was the last time we had a saftey with his athleticism and some actual ball skills? Ol' Rapie is the only one that comes to mind and that was for one season only.

Re: Marcus Williams All Pro

He will be fine! Time to move on!

Can't put the all the blame on him. We had dug ourselves in a massive hole by halftime!
If we had played the first half better we probably would have had an insurmountable lead by the end of the game and that Vikings TD would have just be a consolation score, or they would have just took a knee?

Looking forward to next season.
