Saints position outlook: Offensive line should remain a strength
|
Re: Saints position outlook: Offensive line should remain a strength
Per Pro Football Reference, since signing his big contract in 2015-16 offseason, Armstead has only played in 17 games, available for one season of games...
Terron Armstead
Note: These number do not reflect games he did not finish... Armstead cap number is currently No. 2 on the roster... |
Re: Saints position outlook: Offensive line should remain a strength
And it wasn't even close...
|
Re: Saints position outlook: Offensive line should remain a strength
We can't afford to move Armstead this season but we will likely lose Kelemete so we need to draft another O-line early.
|
Re: Saints position outlook: Offensive line should remain a strength
We need quality depth + Armstead is injury prone. No guarantees Senio stays in New Orleans.
If the best player available @ 27 is a O lineman, take him. |
Re: Saints position outlook: Offensive line should remain a strength
I say pay Kelemente and keep Armstead another year or restructure his contract so it won’t hurt as much to part ways with him after next year.
I also don’t see why we can’t trade him. If he’s traded are we still on the hook for his cap numbers? I don’t care if we don’t get value for him. |
Re: Saints position outlook: Offensive line should remain a strength
Need to pay Kelemente and either restructure armistead or trade him even if we have to eat some of his contract to do so. Hell of a player just to often injured
|
Re: Saints position outlook: Offensive line should remain a strength
Billy Price, C/G, Ohio State
Height: 6-4. Weight: 315 How can we pass on this guy if he’s still there @ 27? He can play all three interior positions. Also, Max Unger will be 32 in April and only has two years left on his contract. |

Plus it'll continue populating our Ohio State South Branch. |

Quenton Nelson and Frank Ragnow are the only offensive linemen I want in the first round, you can stand pat and pull some great O-linemen in later rounds |

Frank is a nice player but isn't dominant enough inside the trenches at 27. I doubt he is selected on day 1. Billy Price on the other hand ... he'll give you a solid performance every week and never misses games, loves football, the gym and has a high football IQ but more importantly, he's a BUCKEYE ;). |

Don't sleep, don't wink on Ragnow... |

Well, this makes me feel even better about getting out-maneuvered on Foster and having Ramczyk fall into our laps...
Wonder if he asked the arresting officers "Do you know who I am?" |

While Wynn had a great Senior Bowl, I think he gets exposed and limited when he faces full-time, well-coached NFL competition as he had great coaching at UGA... As for Price, he struggled when the Buckeye's faced better interior competition; what Price has going for him is his versatility and a need by power running teams... Two guys I like for the Saints more than Wynn and Price or Clapp and Bozeman - but both of those guys would likely sit their first season, barring injury... |
Re: Saints position outlook: Offensive line should remain a strength
And this is a pretty deep draft of middle-round talent for all positions along the offensive line...
I could see the Saints taking as many as three offensive linemen to develop behind our terrific starters... |
Re: Saints position outlook: Offensive line should remain a strength
Pay this man!!!

Re: Saints position outlook: Offensive line should remain a strength
I keep pounding the table for an O-lineman in the first round. However, I could see us drafting several mid round interior lineman and letting them battle it out in training camp for the sixth man. I don't believe that we will be able to afford Kelemete now that he's shown he's a starter in this league.
And without a second round draft pick we have too many positions of need to invest our only early round pick in what is already a good line. Although we don't have as many as needs like recent history did. |

Re: Saints position outlook: Offensive line should remain a strength
Upgrade the line with a 16 game/season beast, kick Peat over and save some coin AND get a high draft pick for Armstead...

Re: Saints position outlook: Offensive line should remain a strength
What's amazing about PFF's own stat is how lowly they graded our offensive linemen individually... |
Re: Saints position outlook: Offensive line should remain a strength
The more you reflect, the more you realize how Kelemete played too many snaps for us to let him go...
He's really earned a fair shot at a starting gig, and with his versatility and availability has earned himself a nice check... And with the Falcons needing a guard - I don't want to even geaux there... |

Re: Saints position outlook: Offensive line should remain a strength
My mid/late round gem I really like is Humboldt State's Alex Cappa; I like him as both a guard and a right tackle; if we got him with a fourth or fifth round pick, provided we killed it with our first picks, I'd be pumped...

Re: Saints position outlook: Offensive line should remain a strength
Investments in the OL and DL with a WR and CB would be a great draft for me!

What?
|
Re: Saints position outlook: Offensive line should remain a strength
Be an even better year if we retain and promote Kelemete...
|
Re: Saints position outlook: Offensive line should remain a strength
Kelemete is the reason we went out and spent big money on a guard last offseason.

I still would love to add this guy at LG, move Peat to LT, move Armstead aka Mr. Glass for a high second round pick...
But Cleveland has a lot of cash to spend... |
Re: Saints position outlook: Offensive line should remain a strength
Kelemente was as solid as they come in 2017. Quality back up but you gotta believe he's gone. He deserves a chance to shine (start) & I think someone will pay starter money for his services this season.
