I’m really not opposed to drafting Dallas Goedert in the first round if he’s still on the board.

Combine, Pro Day may actually make that a reality...

I'd really like to see us get another difference maker on the defensive line in the first round...

And I'd like us not spend it on a wide receiver we may have to trade down the road b/c of salary cap...

But I could live with an exceptional TE, but he'd also have to block, wear all the hats an all-around TE should...

They already did with AA.

I agree. I am very intrigued by him.

How’d that work out?

AA is an outside guy. I’m asking for a true Jon Vilma type MLB

Vilma? Was never impressed with him; an upgrade, yes, but not impressed with what we got in trade...

Thought that Fujita and Shanle did more and got less credit, more criticism than they deserved...

Totally agree we need that QB in the middle of the defense; and if we're using a first round pick, I want a Luke Kuechly-type...

Getting back to TE Dallas Goedert; most pre-draft rankings have him in the 40-60 range, and we have no picks there...

Unless...

He has a ton of work to do. Alex hasn't made it through a full season of football since he was in high school. He also had a season ending every year since he became a starter at Florida ... same thing happened as a Saint in his rookie year.

We can't afford to go through another season being limited at the position. I hope he gets it together (stay healthy) but I don't see him as the answer.

Never impressed with Vilma JP? Huh?

When healthy, Jonathan was an absolute STUD in the middle. No way we even sniff a World Championship in 09 without him. He was a key piece and it was a 100% payoff in the trade. Fujita and Shanle were good pieces but hardly the caliber of JV. He was special.

I agree with 76 ... this team needs to continue to look for the next Vilma in the middle.

Sorry, I didn't mean to hi jack your original TE thread with the linebacker talk.
