Daydreaming about off-season

Cruising the interwebs looking for some news about the Saints.
Have some random thought about what I would like to see the Saints do in FA and the draft
A couple of areas of concern from last season, our run defense was not stellar, coverage by our LBs could use improvement, and our third down conversions were a direct result of Snead's disappearing and lack of a pass catching TE
Even with the desperate need for a another pass rushing DE ,I would rather not spend a fortune that it would take to sign a top pass rusher. That being said Sheldon Richardson is a versatile DE/DT proven stud that it we could protect ourselves with the right contract I could see him making a huge difference in our defence. Trent Murphy is a second tier DE that would be second choice.
Nigel Bradham is a guy that is just the type of three down playmaker that would be huge upgrade to that position group.
TE Trey Burton is a young budding star that could benefit from a change of team and would be a perfect addition to facilitate our using a lot more two TE sets.
IMHO we need to add a Veteran downfield perimeter receiver and Allen Robinson would be my choice to fill that role opposite Thomas. Paul Richardson would be my second choice. Both of these players would benefit from playing with Drew
As has been the MO of this FO making a couple of these moves so that we can get BPA in the Draft.
Obviously the draft is dependant to some degree on FA.
In the draft we should try and address pass rush.
I would not hesitate taking any of the positions mentioned in the FA discussions above.
It wouldn't upset me if we picked a versatile OL at #27. If we could get a player like Quentin Nelson we would be set on the OL for years.
There are several Quality DT that could be there at #27
Good Big Uglies win football games and God didn't make many.
Rashaan Evans and Tramaine Edmunds and two intriguing possibilities at LB
Vita Vea and Daron Payne DT
Lamar Jackson and Mason Rudolph at QB
Barkley is the only RB I would pick ,but that won't happen.
And of course trading back and getting a second rd pick might be a good idea 💡
Players who I like in the third rd in no particular order are Hayden Hurst,Luke Falk ,Holden Hill, Ross Piersbacher,Lorenzo Carter
In the 4th rd Dalton Schultz,Mike Gesicki,Jayle n Samuels
5th,Poona Ford,JC Jackson ,Deontay Burnett

6th BJ Hill, Taylor Hearn, Terrell Edmunds

Re: Daydreaming about off-season

This was a well thought out post and I agree with your overall assessment. What to do with Snead? Hmmm........ We still need to invest heavily in the draft in our O-line. Without a second round pick we are limited because we only need a few impact players and they usually come early in the draft........but at the same time last year proved the need for a deep O-line.

Thumbs Up and good job.
