Re: Kenny Vaccaro expected to leave New Orleans in free agency
Sad. A bust for a 1st rounder but not entirely his fault. Probably do well on a team with solid CB's.

Re: Kenny Vaccaro expected to leave New Orleans in free agency
Sad to see him go, assuming we don't make an offer - a good player, but one I think we can replace.
He will do well elsewhere. Under difference circumstances I think we would resign him, but we have talent behind him that makes more $ sense. |
Re: Kenny Vaccaro expected to leave New Orleans in free agency
It’s the right decision. He isn’t very good. He’s consistently been terrible in zone coverage and draws too many penalties. Too undisciplined.
|
Re: Kenny Vaccaro expected to leave New Orleans in free agency
I’m cool with that.

Re: Kenny Vaccaro expected to leave New Orleans in free agency
I just hope it doesn't turn into another "Malcolm Jenkins" fiasco. Becoming an all pro the year after we let him walk.

KV was the 115th rated cb last season (this is where he played the majority of his snaps). As Chris stated, he's been consistently bad in 2 deep. Good against the run but a major liability against pass in man or zone. I think the better comparison would be letting Roman Harper walk. |
Re: Kenny Vaccaro expected to leave New Orleans in free agency
The question becomes who do we replace him with. My money would be on LaMarcus Joyner or Malcolm Burnett

Re: Kenny Vaccaro expected to leave New Orleans in free agency
I am not against KV leaving, but I think if he leaves, it will create a bigger issue than we realize. Yes, he sucks on the back end/zone defense, but he is pretty darn good as a hybrid LB/SS playing around the line and covering TE's, or slower RB's, and playing run support. Until the Saints find better outside linebackers, that 3 safety formation will be necessary. The 3 safety formation with KV acting as a LB is exactly where he does his best work.

Re: Kenny Vaccaro expected to leave New Orleans in free agency
Pick a number and if he is good with it, great.
If some team is willing to overpay, there's no reason to get in a bidding war. After missing 11 games in two years, he really shouldn't be commanding top $$ |
Re: Kenny Vaccaro expected to leave New Orleans in free agency
2013 draft, 15-through 25 half of those are now pro bowlers. Eric Reed, Xavier Jones, Desmond Trufant. That's three of them that went after Kenny. He was a bust when one considers we had over a 50% chance of landing a pro bowler if we pass.
I'm not questioning the pick though, it looked great on paper. We have a habit of picking players and using them in schemes that do not cater to their skillset which is what happened to Kenny. If you look at Kamara, he is doing exactly what he was doing in college and look what happened. |
Re: Kenny Vaccaro expected to leave New Orleans in free agency
Reality is that KV in a certain, specific role is valuable. IF healthy. But that type of player still is only worth so much money. So if he’s all in on New Orleans and willing to accept his role as a one-dimensional safety in this defense then I’m happy to see him here. I just don’t think that’s the case.

Re: Kenny Vaccaro expected to leave New Orleans in free agency
Can't say I'll miss him for a second.

Orlando Scandrick likely on his way out of Dallas – ProFootballTalk
The Cowboys tried to deal Scandrick to the Saints during the draft last year in return for safety Kenny Vaccaro, via Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. I wasn't aware of this ^^^ ^^^. |
Re: Kenny Vaccaro expected to leave New Orleans in free agency
I had high hopes when he was drafted, but has never lived up to expectations. My biggest issue with him has always been how undisciplined he plays. I don't see this creating a big hole in the defence at all.
If he doesn't return, I wish him all the best! |
Re: Kenny Vaccaro expected to leave New Orleans in free agency
Here's the thing about the recent history of the strong safety position with during Payton's tenure with the Saints...
We spent a second round pick on Roman Harper, an obvious liability in coverage to other teams except the Saints coaches... SO then we spent a first round pick on Kenny Vaccaro who tested with high benchmarks, but had to medicate to focus and play disciplined... Now, I could believe that Ireland probably will do a better job selecting a strong safety, but I'm of the belief we'd do better signing a proven free agent... But I thought the three-safety secondary of Williams-Bell-Bush/Banjo played well enough, and would be better with a better PASS RUSH... |
Re: Kenny Vaccaro expected to leave New Orleans in free agency
'bout damn time. He single handedly was the reason for a couple losses.

Re: Kenny Vaccaro expected to leave New Orleans in free agency
Yeah Vaccaro and not having Luke McCown for a back up QB cost us the Super Bowl!!

I don’t don’t doubt KV played to the best of his ability. The problem is his ability.

Re: Kenny Vaccaro expected to leave New Orleans in free agency
Most of us could see this one coming a mile away. For where Kenny was drafted, he has been a very underwhelming player.
Wise move by the Saints FO to let Vacarro walk. |
Re: Kenny Vaccaro expected to leave New Orleans in free agency
We have two young safeties. Bring back Bush for cheap and sign another valuable backup. Cb and defensive line is more of a need
|
Re: Kenny Vaccaro expected to leave New Orleans in free agency
Till he goes to another team and becomes an ALL PRO Scene 1 take 6,285,321 YOU'RE ON EGGSPURTS "WHAT THE SAINTS SHOULD HAVE DONE............"

Re: Kenny Vaccaro expected to leave New Orleans in free agency
Does anyone else find it odd that there is no news about KV?

Looks like we made the right decision. It’s been crickets on the Vaccaro front.

Re: Kenny Vaccaro expected to leave New Orleans in free agency
I feel sorry for Kenny. I thought he would've at least got a call.
|
Re: Kenny Vaccaro expected to leave New Orleans in free agency
Okafor will be our Hargrove signning
Davis will be our Vilma signning Hopefully they sign Eric Reid to be our Sharper |
Re: Kenny Vaccaro expected to leave New Orleans in free agency
It's really strange to hear nothing about Vaccaro getting a call or making a visit.
|
Re: Kenny Vaccaro expected to leave New Orleans in free agency
Free Agency period just opened yesterday.
Jeez |
Re: Kenny Vaccaro expected to leave New Orleans in free agency
Looks like the market for Vaccaro is a one year deal and try again next year. I hope he signs outside the NFC South, don't want his two best games every year to be against the Saints.
