With the 27th Pick, the New Orleans Saints Select...

QB/WR Lamar Jackson

Stop me if you've heard this one before: Larry Holder riled up people on Twitter.

Oh, I wrote something about this last week you say?

Congratulations on being a loyal reader, listener and viewer of "Dunc & Holder." We thank you.

On Thursday, the NFL Network's Peter Schrager released his first mock draft, and with the 27th overall pick he has the New Orleans Saints selecting Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson.

That sound you hear is the collective screeching car of Saints fans the world over.

Naturally, Holder wanted to really get the juices flowing this morning and tweeted a link to Schrager's work with a bit of his own spin as well.

Taysom Hill might be as fast as Lamar Jackson anyway. This won't be our pick. I'd take the best RB in the draft-Darius Guice. Who I really want later is DJ Chark. If we got Guice and Chark we'd have the best RBs and WRs in tge league. Arden Key in the 2nd rd would give us the best DEs in the league. Christian Locotoure in the 4th solidifies the D line and we're ready to roll.

Have to go with best. We can make another run with a play maker but not with picks riding the pine. Guice would be a great pick. Have to have the run game solid and take the workload off Brees like last season. If Guice is gone go Randolph and make us into a RB nightmare. Brees, two agile RB's. Good luck stopping that situation.

Front seven on defense and interior offensive line - can't keep saying it enough...

And we don't need to take running backs in the first round...

Rez, I see some NFL scouts are listening to Bill Polian instead of watching Lamar's body of work. See below.

Billy,

Is there any specific player(s) in the draft you can suggest that didn't play at LSU?

We gave our second round up I thought.

If we drafted Lamar Jackson, I'd instantly lose faith in the front office.

Strief is retiring. We need to keep Drew upright and big gaping holes for our running backs. Draft O-line in the first round......you win in the trenches.

No. I watch Deion Jones and Duke Riley anchoring the Falcons LB core. Deion Jones was nearly superbowl mvp 2 yrs ago. Not his fault the Falcons offense didnt play 2 halves. Kwon Alexander and Kendall Beckwith give the Bucs a ruthless LB core along with Levontae David. I mean if we could get Calvin Ridley.......
OK. But I think Chark is just as good and will be a much later pick. Oh and in free agency I've targeted 2 players. Jarvis Landry and Tyrann Mathieu. I'll keep sayin, being an LSU homer doesn't mean I'm wrong. I wouldn't reach on Key but the talent is obviously there. I didnt mention Russel Gage a Golden Tate type, Darrel Williams a bruising RB with the best hands on LSUs roster, Will Clapp the 2nd best center in the SEC or Dontae Jackson a tall corner who's probably the fastest player in the draft.

If BPA at 27 is a running back, I'd rather trade down into the early second

The QB situation will be total chaos, so no one can guess who will be left after the top 12. Foles and Cousins will be signed by then, and maybe one of the Vikings' three.
So, yeah, I can believe Mayfiled could drop.

If we take Guice at 27 I知 going to lose my s葉. Key has talent but showed this past year he has no heart. Christian is a below avg d-lineman. The only one of those I would take is Chark. I知 a diehard LSU fan but this is not the draft for LSU players. Even Jackson is over rated.

We are not taking Guice. We are strong at RB. Even Edmonds is a winner.

Goal is to get a couple of D starters and an OL. Rest of it is worthless. Unless we trade up, all those late picks straight to the garage bin so would not be surprised if we trade up to get back in the 2nd. Shelf life with Brees is like a fermenting pare. It is go time.

We値l take Lamar Jackson. The forums will be collectively pissed. I値l be excited to have finally secured the Quarterback of the future, and I mean that in multiple ways. Then we値l go on to win it all with Jackson learning behind the GOAT.

Josh Allen slips to us at 27 and we have our heir to Brees.

Brees is not going to show anyone the tricks of the trade. Why would he do that? The grooming aspect never happens. They are all out their fighting for their jobs. Brees believes he can play at 45. Go tell him it's over with. He is going to have something to say about it.

Jackson looked very inconsistent at the combine. He is an incredible athlete but his accuracy is an issue and his decision making needs further testing.

Todd McShay mock draft 3.0:

27. New Orleans Saints
Lamar Jackson, QB, Louisville

The Saints could go offensive line with James Daniels or Billy Price, or TE with Goedert if he's available. I'm putting Jackson here because Drew Brees can't play forever, and this would be a terrific spot for him to sit, learn and develop behind a Hall of Fame QB and a terrific offensive mind in Sean Payton.

X factor coach and coordinator -- > Sean Payton.

He polished up the likes of Kerry Collins (Giants) to a SB appearance & a undrafted Tony Romo. Just imagine what Sean would do with a gifted athlete & former Heisman winning QB in Lamar.
