It's really going to be about versatility when the linebacking corps is picked as a whole... In today's game with the heavy emphasis on passing, linebackers aren't practical - hence, four pass rushers, two linebackers and five defensive backs... We'll only see six, maybe seven linebackers make the team - and that's only because of special teams - until kickoffs are eliminated and that's now being floated... I have us keeping seven because the team may still be skittish from last season, but then again, they may just write it off and keep six... But it'll be versatility, playing more than one LBer position that keeps a player on this active roster... The likely six that I think have roster spots right now, I've underlined... Kikaha is no longer a fit on this squad and should've been moved to a 3-4 team two seasons ago; we'll be lucky to get a sixth, seventh round pick - if that... SLB (2) 53 - A.J. I hope linebacker (either @ 27 or mid rounds) is still on the Saints radar at next months draft.
AJ is coming off sports hernia surgery (December 17), Stupar tore his ACL back in October & we have no idea what Anzalone will bring to the table. Three key contributors/starters at linebacker with question marks heading into camp in a few months. Gotta continue to build good depth (see Philly) around these guys. |

If we get Meredith looks like we would have to give up a draft pick. Not getting that one. He was not drafted. I would not give up a draft pick for him. He was wide open on most of his catches.

I guess only today and tomorrow to worry about the Bears matching Meredith. If they don't we won't draft a WR at least in the first 4 rounds. I would think we would draft a OG/C type player.
