Now we really need another Z receiver to groom behind Ginn. MT, Meredith and Coleman are all X receivers who also move inside as big slot WR’s sometimes.

I’d love to grab Dante Pettis in the 3rd round.

Suddenly a crowded field. Dural, Carr & TLL need to step it up. Saints need a special team/punt return specialist/ace. I mean a guy who scares the hell out of coaches on punt returns or kick offs. TLL isn't that guy.

Yes, but he's no bigger than Ken Crawley and I'd like not to spend a first round pick on a nickel back/kick returner...

Unless a quarterback like Mayfield falls, I'd like to go offensive or defensive line...

Saints are gonna take a player that falls to them irregardless of positional needs...

We could use an upgrade at TE, but it's not what I'd consider a need as there's a committee of guys who can do it week to week...

Cam Jordan, Tyeler Davison, Sheldon Rankins, an injured Okafor, with only Onyemata and Hendrickson in reserve, there we have big needs...

Rankins is not producing sacks, and Okafor is coming off of an achilles tendon tear...

On the offensive line, the only proven commodity we have as a reserve is a 34yo (in season) Jermon Bushrod, so by that logic, OLine is a need...

Should Brees miss the very rare one or two games, we've got, Tom Savage? Maybe SP can work his magic, but there's need...

Vonn Bell hasn't really stepped up yet, and if one safety of Williams, Bell, or Coleman is injured, then we've got problems, another need...

With Snead gone, we need to find a fifth and possibly fourth wide receiver; Meredith won't be back to regular season, Ginn is 33 yo - definite need...

But we don't need to spend an early draft pick on a WR as this is a deep group and our offense is predicated on hands and routes, not blazing speed...

Well, we may not have a Pro-Bowl level Tight End on the roster, the competition should be pretty d*mn keen this summer...

Ben Watson vs Coby Fleener - at the very least, this may be what Fleener needs to shake the pixie dust out of his eyes...

Deon Yelder vs Josh Hill - Hill seemed to get off-track for a while and now we find out if Yelder was legit or a beneficiary of Mike White...

Nate Wozniak vs Michael Hoomanawanui - Hoo has stayed healthy only one season, a younger blocking TE could solve the availability issue...

True. But most of our expensive TEs really aren't costing much or we don't have long-term commitments...

Trust will be the key theme for the Tight End position over the summer as we get ready for a SB run this Fall...

Well, these are the questions I'm asking myself when considering that move...

First, is he an imminent threat, problem, or impediment to the team's success and chemistry?

Second, is there a currently a player available who would have more of an impact, even at another position, whereby that money could be spent?

Third, has the team, players, coaches, and support staff, done all it could to make him and this team better?

In so far as the first question, he hasn't necessarily been a problem, but some players may or may not have taken to him...

To the second question, the Saints were willing to give Fleener's pay slot to Jimmy Graham, but not a penny more, so there wasn't anyone else on the market better...

And to the last question, the Drew Factor doesn't seem to have helped Fleener and maybe Payton didn't draw a clear path plan for what he envisioned for Fleener with the Saints...

Would I have like to have upgraded Tight End? Yes.

Do I think the Saints should have maybe sweetened the pot for Graham? Possibly, but I respected their discipline (until they lost it in the Draft)...

He's an experienced Tight End who's biggest challenge is consistency - find that cause, see if it's fixable both on his and the team's part...

But let the competition play out and see if he's one of the Top 3 Tight Ends when we break camp...

Let him win or lose the roster spot at this point - don't keep it to "develop" another player - Jim Mora did that for the league for years...
