this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; So, will it be four (4) RBs and six (6) WRs or five (5) of each as in seasons' past?...

But to answer your question, I have 5 at WR (MT, TG Jr, Tre, Meredith, Coleman). No clue on the RB's. For me, losing Ingram is HUGE. Maybe West (has real NFL game experience) fills that void ? Maybe Sean Payton passes more the first 4 games? |

When Kev and I were scouting college football last Fall, we discussed need for a big slot WR (e.g. Colston) so Mike Thomas could be moved for mismatches... You realize Thomas was the only reliable big receiver (6' 2" +) on the roster last year not a Tight End? Kev, who lived in the Northeast, said I needed to watch Temple games, even though they're not good; Kirkwood & those contested catches stood out, impressively... As far as bringing in another WR, why? Talent? We have is as good as anyone top to bottom with Mike Thomas an elite X and Ginn, who's gotten better (Brees effect), is a threat at the Y... Cam Meredith will be a plus, plus win at the Z (slot) and can be interchanged with Thomas. So those three would be my sure locks... Haven't gotten to see much of Tre'Quan Smith, but as a 3rd rounder he's likely the fourth WR. So that leaves one, maybe two... Payton realized (after having to trade Cooks who's ineffective in posting) that Brees needs big targets on 3rd downs and the redzone to complete drives... That's where I like Kirkwood, with his great size, reliable hands and catch radius as the No. 5; he can develop, move up when Meredith's deal expires... Plus KK could be the third big man in the red zone where you could get one-on-one isolation out wide each side with the third in the slot as the hot read... The 6th WR will have to be a Special Teams Coverage Monster to make the team though as you've got two defensive backs, plus RBs who can return kicks, punts... Carr, Dural or Tommylee could be that underneath Snead-type that Payton likes on second and long play selections; need to see more on Massington...

After that I'd keep two (2) more RBs, in order, Boston Scott, Jonathan Williams, Trey Edmunds, Daniel Lasco, Terrance West; maybe a third with Ingram's suspension ... |
It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...
