Re: 2018 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook
Some key roster battles (Updated):
- The repeated word used to describe the work, numbers by Tom Savage shown in Training Camp is consistent; Hill had better be awesome in PreSeason...
- As of late, Will Clapp has really come on at both Guard spots despite some early jitters at Center; Cameron Tom is missing some important time...
- And speaking of missing, LeRibeus could've locked up a roster gig if not for repeated trouble with snapping the ball; Clapp could make him expendable...
- The Tommylee Lewis Training Camp Spectacular is as entertaining as ever right now, but with his inability to field punts, can we afford a roster spot?
- With Vereen's early workload, a roster spot seemed a lock before injury; Scott is taking advantage of added snaps & looks like a great third down back...
- Should DE/DT Mitchell Loewen continue to surge, then Kikaha, former 2nd round pick, and a bad scheme fit loses in that extra DL/LB roster spot contest...
- Thought Stupar was in trouble considering his age, cap number, and early bland play, but he's really turned it up the past four days with forced turnovers...
- The play shown by P.J. Williams seems that he's resigned to not making this roster; if he could show half the heart of Maulet, he'd be ahead of Crawley...
- Looks like we're set at four (4) safeties, five (5) counting DB Natrell Jamerson making the roster; versatility is great, but I hate the DB designation...
- Early on it looked like Woodrow was gonna be our fourth DT, but Bromley has gotten the swing of things and his momentum may even secure a starting gig...
- While there's still a lot of camp and PreSeason left, Justin Hardee, playing only one season at CB has progressed dramatically; can the big athlete be our sixth CB?
***Updated***
- With extended time out by Hoomanuwanui, Ben Watson, Tight End position, already somewhat an unknown, even suspect, becomes a battle of unknowns...
- Back half of the WR corps battle definitely is tight for the Saints to release known quantity Brandon Coleman - might be most talented group in NFL...
- Tough injury for the Saints to release developmental project Fullington at this point; fiery competitor; may also be a sign Leonard is starting to get it at RT...
- Sunday's depth chart release & practice confirmed thinking that Edmunds is now viewed as a FB and is in direct competition with Zach Line; speed v. strength...
