Lived a full, long life. Got to see his team win the big one and enjoy it for years afterwards. Can't ask for much more than what he got to experience for as long as he did. RIP Mr. Benson.

I am, was glad he bought the Saints.
He was from N.O. He grew his businesses first here.
I am glad he finally got to see his Saints win the big game.

Sympathy for Ms. Gayle.
They really did love each other.
Poor lady.

I had the feeling that his fight with the the flu would end up in this manner. Definitely the best owner we have ever had. My hope is that the new owner keeps the hope alive and let's us win this one for Tom.

Win It For Tom!

19-0 Baby!

Sad day indeed. Hope the family does the right thing and keeps the infighting out of the public but I doubt it.

Why infighting? It's all been settled in court a few years back.
Gayle Benson is now owner of Pelicans and Saints.

Re: Rest in Peace Mr. Benson

RIP Mr. Benson. He brought us a Superbowl, and kept the Pelicans in town. Someone needs to organize a mass Benson Boogie through the city in his honor.

Rest in Peace Mr. Benson, yes.
A good man. A good Catholic. Say Hello to Heaven.

I remember, when he bought the Saints in 85. There was the threat that someone else would buy them, and move them to Jacksonville, or I thought, (but was wrong,) Chicago. Back then, I was working in NWLA, and I thought I was the only Saints fan in Lousiana. I wanted to throw a party, when the sale happened. Of course, the Benson Boogie endeared him to all of us.

He nearly ran over me in his golf cart with Mrs. Gayle, at training camp in Mississippi, and looked a little startled. He was prob. a little skittish after all
the stuff following the Storm, and I told him, "Mr. Benson, we're sure glad to have you here." He smiled back, "Im glad to be here too." very warmly.

-- Listening to WWL's discussion of him tonight.

Tbh I didn't think him passing would affect me that much. I was wrong. I'm quite sad about it. There's a lot of memories of the Saints that I associate with him.
