this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Isn't this guy still on the board? I know he's slow, but scouts say that he could be a close-to-the-line strong safety (replace Bellamy?) or even move to WLB. Anyways, where is this guy?...

Dropping massively in the draft, that\'s where he is. We just drafted Bullocks to replace Bellamy eventually so what would be the point in taking him. Smith, Bellamy, Bullocks, Mitchell, and Gleason are our 5 safeties... anyone else would be a waste of pick.

Not saying that this is even remotely true, but I have heard some people talking about moving Dwight Smith to CB and then Bullocks to FS. Wouldn\'t that leave SS open? I don\'t know, it seems like a stretch. Seems like a shame that we got Bullocks in the 2nd when Shazor is still available after almost 5 full rounds.

Not me... look at how many safeties that were drafted in front him him. Look at how many class organizations that passed him up. That should tell you something. This is what happens when the media hypes up big school players... they get a fan base and people start believing they are better than what the player really is. And that is why every team has scouts to do their job.

I would prefer Shazor to Bullock. But Hawthorne was called a first rounder and is still on the board. McCune was called a 3rd rounder went in the 5th. Clarett was supposed to be undrafted and went in the 3rd. It\'s all about team needs. But if there is any truth to Smith playing corner, we should take Shazor late.

I prefer vice versa... as you can see our defense is changing into a unit that can create turnovers. Smith, Mike, Bullocks, Fincher, Will, Grant, etc... he fits our into our mold. I\'m not saying Shazor isn\'t or will not be a productive player at all, he just does not fit into our scheme and we are loaded at that position.
Team needs maybe a part of it, but look at the players that were drafted before the players that are still on the board. There were a couple of DT\'s, safeties, middle linebackers that were drafted before these players... actually many. Players in which we\'ve never even heard about. So obviously there are some red flags somewhere... and/or the fact that these players aren\'t really as good as they are hyped up to be. I do want Hawthorne though and personally would have taken him earlier... hopefully we\'ll consider him in the 6th round. If not... it\'s not like I would be pissed about it because obviously there is something that EVERYONE is not liking about him. The pot didn\'t help his cause either. |
