A Zach Strief retirement party will be open to the public: details
By Christopher Dabe cdabe@nola.com, NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune Zach Strief is having a party, and you're invited. The recently retired New Orleans Saints offensive lineman will have a retirement party with current and former Saints players in attendance April 21 at the Port Orleans Brewing Co., 4124 Tchoupitoulas St., the company announced on Facebook. The party is open to the public and is listed as kid friendly, according to the Facebook post. The party will run from noon to 5 p.m. No tickets are required for admission. Strief is a co-owner of the brewery that opened in May 2017. The Facebook posting said to join Strief and others to "drink a lot of beer, listen to live music, and toast Zach moving on from Athlete to Brewmaster." Strief joined the Saints as a seventh-round pick in the 2006 NFL Draft and played on the Super Bowl winning team in the 2009 season. Strief became a full-time offensive line starter in 2011 and played 158 career games. A knee injury limited him to two games in his final season. "My career here has exceeded my wildest imagination," Strief said during his retirement announcement March 12 at the Saints practice facility. "I didn't think this was going to last through my first August, let alone 12 years. "My admiration for the New Orleans Saints organization has grown daily throughout my career. Thank you to everyone who has played a role in it; it certainly was not accomplished alone." Read the rest here ... Sounds like fun. I wish I could be there. |
