Dez Bryant released by Cowboys

Ian Rappaport reporting that Dallas has released Dez.

I think he was owed 16 million is it? He hasn't been producing like the 16 million dollar man, that's for sure.

Re: Dez Bryant released by Cowboys

He’d make a good #2...but he’d come here and think he’s a #1. His impact in the red zone would be wonderful because he goes up and attacks the ball at the highest point.

Re: Dez Bryant released by Cowboys

When Dez was 25 he was elite & healthy. Now 29 and banged up ... simply not the same player. Good but no longer a true #1 WR.

Some of the folks up here in DeathStar nation are on suicide watch.

He's be a monster in the red zone, but you're also right IMO about his thinking he's #1. I doubt we could afford him anyway.

bad business... look at wr's who've changed teams: Landry, Watkins, Robinson, Pryor, Richardson.
Why make this move now?

trade them Coleman for a 6th

If he had remained his cap hit would have been $16M ($12M base, $4M signing bonus). Since he was released the Cowboys are in for only $8M (2018 $4M signing bonus and 2018 $4M signing bonus). They can designate him as a post June 1st release and take a $4M hit this season and the next. In other words, they are saving money given his lack of production.

Dez will not be a post June 1st cut. 8M is available for draft trades.

The Cowboys have released Dez Bryant after the receiver's meeting with Jerry Jones, according to a source. A source said Bryant was not offered a pay cut, while another source added that Bryant will not be designated a post-June 1 cut. The Cowboys will… https://t.co/WHJrHdguPh

Bad attitude. Diminished skills. Probably will sign with the Patriots.

It was moved and deleted. To be replaced with “glad we won’t”.

I’d do $6 million for a year if he would.

Re: Dez Bryant released by Cowboys

I do 3 million with another 8 in incentives for 1 year. Win the SB 1 mill, make the SB 1 mill, make NFC Championship 1 mill, 12 TD receptions 1 mill.

I hope not. They've been doing good on their own the last few years.

Re: Dez Bryant released by Cowboys

A lot of good WR's are getting long in the tooth. Antonio Brown and Jose Jones missed a good bag of games. Jones, also had a quite a few critical drops. I would not be surprised if MT is a top 1-3 range WR next year. He can handle any CB in the NFL no problem. Dez though has a bad attitude facing reality.

Dez's attitude stinks and he's immature. No thanks.

Under no circumstances is he worth the risk
That includes $0 contract, pro bono.
No no no no no no no.
Why would anyone think that he is the one can't miss piece to a championship season?
That would be the only possible justification for even making eye contact with that dude.
No

Also, this is a Non Saints thread that (along with every other "should we" thread) needs to be moved to the Burn In Hell Forum.

No he's not the one piece. We would probably make it anyway but he's a piece that ensures we're the best without a doubt. A lot of the game is won before you even hit the field.

Who's this Pro Bono I keep hearing about? I think he graduated from DEWY CHEATEM AND HOWE. Heard his parents spent $300,000 on his education and only got a Quarter Back!!!!

I'll be doing two shows a night all off season folks, try the veal!!!!!

Euphoria 04-14-2018 09:41 AM

Re: Dez Bryant released by Cowboys

Well the problem if he is trying to be a number 1 then coming to NO isn't the place we don't deploy a 1/2 or 3 WR system. They are role players!

However, you put that aside and want to revitalize your career I don't see why you wouldn't come to NO.

Keep in mind that some WR are great in our system and they when they cash in and go to another team for fame and $$$ they stuggle because of the labels of being a 1 or 2 WR in a system like that.

DEWEY CHEATUM & HOWE is the firm that represented J. Byrd, J. Gallette & C. Grant with their contracts. Get your facts straight.

Hopefully they fleece some other hapless team with Drama Dez.

Dez wants to stay in the NFC East, could see him with Alex Smith and the Skins. Giants have enough drama with Odell Jr. don't see interest there.

Dez and Jeff “Is Your Mother a Prostitute?” Ireland finally brought together? Yeah I don’t think that’s happening.

(Yes I know the context of that question wasn’t as bad as the media made it out to be.)

I can’t believe this, but one of our beat writers (John Hendrix) is backing up an Ian Rapoport claim that the Saints are interested in Dez. I truly didn’t think we’d have any interest whatsoever.
