Second Annual Kevin Hagan Memorial Black & Gold Pretend General Manager Championship

Second Annual Kevin Hagan Memorial Black & Gold Pretend General Manager Championship

Over the years I have noticed the painstaking work put into the annual NFL draft by several members of the Black & Gold community. How many untold hours have been spent pouring over countless periodicals, websites and other unseemly sources to compile lists of generally unrecognizable names in hopes of their work making its way onto the Saints’ Superdome turf? What rewards are these heroic few given for their tireless efforts come draft day? The result is usually the utter frustration of their finely tuned list of finalists being ignored by those truly in charge.

This past season our illustrious friends JeanPierre and Hagan tied for first place and each received the first place award.

Thus the second year of the Kevin Hagan Memorial Black & Gold Pretend General Manager Championship! The PGNC was developed as a vehicle to give recognition to the most outstanding Pretend General Manager on Black & Gold and to give myself some way of trying to understand the passion of these fearless few. I have to admit that I have come to understand that passion!

Pick Submission

All participants will be required to submit an ordered list of two projected draftees for each slotted pick for that day by the New Orleans Saints at least one pick prior to the Saints’ first pick of that day’s round(s). I will be noting the exact time of that pick prior to the Saints' first pick of the day. As long as the competitor's picks for that days are posted prior to that time they will be valid. Thus, PGM’s will be given the opportunity to “regroup” after each of the first two days of the draft to lick their wounds and rethink their lists.

Scoring

Scoring will be recorded on a per pick basis with three (3) points being awarded for a successful matching of the first choice of the PGM to the actual pick by the Saints Front Office Selection Committee (Sean Payton and The Glorious Jeff Ireland). One (1) point will be awarded if the PGM’s second choice matches that of the SFOSC for that designated pick slot. If the PGM fails to match with either choice they will suffer a penalty of negative one (-1) for their efforts. Scoring will be tracked in the opening post.

Contingencies

In the case of a traded pick, if said trade results in a selection within the same round of the draft, the PGM’s selections will apply to the pick at the new position. If trade results in a move to another round of the same day of the draft, the PGMs will be given the opportunity to submit a new set of two ordered choices for the new slot if posted in this thread prior to the first pick in the NEXT round, not the first pick in the NEW round. In the case of a trade to a round in a subsequent day, the selections for the traded slot will be ignored and the new slot will be addressed in the “regrouping” period.

The Championship will be awarded to the Pretend General Manager with either the highest positive point total or the least negative total at the end of the draft, as the case may be.

Prizes (PM me if you have other prizes to donate to the cause)

Prizes will once again be a CD of original songs written and performed by Cameron Merrell. Videos of three songs appearing on the CD can be found at In a Little While.

Remember PGM’s, to be successful your picks must be based upon what you project the SFOSC will do as opposed to what you would do if you were the SFOSC.

May the best PGM win!

Note: All results are final and all determinations will be made by myself. Any other prizes to be determined.

Nice total list, but don't forget, you have until one pick prior to the Saints first pick of the day. Needs can change between days.

I wanted to point out a correction I just added ...

Gotcha AG! I really hope we don't trade up unless it's for Davenport. I really think Taysom Hill is the QB of the future because he's been with Brees for 1 year already so he's way ahead of any other QB.
