this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I think the Bucs nailed the draft and free agency. On paper, they really improved the team. That defensive line...Jason Pierre Paul, Gerald McCoy, Vita Vae and Vinny Curry, just wow! That said, they always seem to be the offseason ...

That said, they always seem to be the offseason champions and always seem to find a way to under achieve during the season. The Panthers did well addressing areas of need. WR, running back and safety were definite weak spots and they got them in rounds 1, 2 and 3. I'm kinda surprised they didn't pick up at least one O-lineman but there are only so many picks in the draft. Some might disagree with the individual picks as opposed to who was available at the time but overall, I think the Panthers did a good job shoring up team weaknesses. The Falcons seemed to ignore team needs completely and went strictly BPA. They have glaring holes on both offensive guard and defensive tackle, yet with their first pick they chose a great WR when they already have one of the better wide receiver groups in the league. And with their second pick they went with a cornerback who, very likely won't crack the starting line up. Maybe the Falcons feel they've got a Super Bowl caliber roster already. They came into the draft with obvious weaknesses and left the draft with those same weaknesses. I think they picked up a couple very good players but I don't see how it improved their team overall. |
