J.T. is a very, very interesting prospect. Dude just makes plays (1st downs & red zone).
He's not the fastest, biggest, most accurate, or have the biggest arm, but he just makes plays. High football IQ. He ran that Urban Meyer offense very well. I think he has a chance in this offensive system. A proven leader of good football teams in a talented conference. What's not to like or to lose? |

Re: 3 reasons the Saints should be excited about undrafted free agent J.T. Barrett
I watched him a great deal throughout his college career and what he does is win. Although from watching him and listening to the talk about him through that time, he's most likely not going to be Drew's replacement. He'll be parking in Pete Carmichael's spot in a few years instead. You may hate Urban Meyer, but it'd be a numbskull move to open your mouth to argue that he doesn't know what he's doing. He keeps saying that J.T. has the head coach gene like none other he's seen.
As far as off the field issues go, he had a run in for underaged drinking. Totally owned it right away, no blaming anyone else or getting it swept under the rug. He paid his penalty and willingly sat through his suspension coaching and encouraging his replacement all the way. He's got the heart of a Saint. |

Lmao at all the blind optimism over Taysom Hill. Listen, he plays for us currently, and thus I hope for the best. But don't let two idiots (Aikman and Buck) misconstrued take fool you into thinking he's the future for sure. I love love love what he brought to special teams last year, but I would be shocked..I'm talking jaw on the floor in stunned silence if he manages to even beat out Savage for the number 2 spot. You don't let your QB of the future play gunner on special teams.

I really like what I read about this guy. Seems like Payton could build a great system around him using players we already have. I bet Payton would cream himself if he could get him to be a solid franchise Qb.
I would love to see what he could do with a dual threat QB. What’s the knock on this guy? Why wasn’t he drafted? Played for a good school in a decent conference and excelled. |

Career Stats for Taysom https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb...om-hill-1.html http://draftscout.com/ratings/dsprof...2017&genpos=QB Notice the difference: https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb...barrett-1.html http://draftscout.com/ratings/dsprof...2018&genpos=qb TJ played 50 games and Taysom only 37 I'm not saying that TJ wouldn't be a good QB I'm saying that TJ has that little extra that changes games. Remember seeing him last year on special teams and how he would just shoot into the pile with no fear at all. I think TJ was brought in for more than just competition but Taysom will beat him out in the end. Coach loves Taysom and I think Taysom is a bit faster in the 40. |
