Re: 3 reasons the Saints should be excited about undrafted free agent J.T. Barrett
I really don’t get why everyone is so high on Hill. Has he taken a snap at Qb for us? If he played last preseason he didn’t make an impression good enough for me to remember The only thing I know about Hill is that Payton keeps making a point my to say he is good. Almost too much of a point. Other than that I haven’t seen anything on him that leads me to believe he is any good at Qb. Other than “I heard”

Training camp will put a lot of questions regarding Taysom, JT etc to rest. I remember G Grayson (many thought he was the heir apparent to Brees) looking like a deer in headlights when inserted a couple of camps ago. He was totally lost outside the pocket.
IMO both will have to show up and show out @ camp to take Savage spot @ #2. A very capable back up with NFL starter experience. |

The reason for the stat difference which I pointed out in an earlier post is because Hill only played 37 games while JT's stats were based on 50. That's an entire season folks.

Re: 3 reasons the Saints should be excited about undrafted free agent J.T. Barrett
I'm a BYU hater but I gotta admit, Hill is the real deal when he's healthy. He's a great athlete and a very good quarterback. The only real knock against him is that he can't stay healthy. I think the label "injury prone" gets used way to much nowadays but in this case there's no way to describe him. I've only seen J.T. Barrett play a few times but I've never seen anything in him that compares to Hill.
All that said, if I had to pick between the two as a successor for Drew, I'd take Barrett because I don't think Hill could make it through an entire NFL season. |
