There is a problem with that theory.

As the Saftey you are the deepest guy... and all you do is tackle in this situation - prevent the big play even if it was a big play like the catch you are to clean it up not be 'involved'. Its called situation awareness.

Look as if he wanted to have a stake in the play because the catch almost seemed impossible so he went for being involved and lost track of the 'situation awareness'. He f'ed up on the plan plan and simple. He takes ownership of it but its time to learn from it and move on.

He basically panicked in the moment and misjudged it.

Got there far too early and tried to stop Diggs from going out of bounds, but missed completely.

If Payton had not called the time out, this play never happened. Sean Payton blew that game, Williams just missed a tackle and contributed to our choke.

Many times a Super Bowl team just misses in a tear jerking situation the year before

I can't think of any other team in 2017 that has that much of bittersweet loss to motivate them all the way to a championship
