That makes more sense than the other way, but given the salary differences a straight-up trade seems to make the most sense.

Although, now that I think about it, if the story is right then the fact that Simon has agreed on a long-term contract and is no longer a franchised free agent would 1) free up even more cap space for the Saints, and 2) significantly up his value ... especially if the Eagles still have to negotiate with Howard.

I don\'t know what to read into Haz stating that Howard \"has a 99% chance\" of staying, but I can read a lot into the Eagles getting rid of practically every vet who faxes what they think is their market value to the FO.

I\'m still hoping something goes down, I guess.

I hate rumors like this. Nothing against the post, or the poster, but...

We -already- knew Simon was a likely trade to the Saints, based on his current situation in Philly and the Saints near desperate need for a DT.

But now, after reading this post and scrambling for 20 minutes trying to out if it had any validity, I know exactly as much as I did before. Nothing.

I hate that.
