Re: Saints see encouraging signs from players coming off of injuries
If Okafor returns to near 100%; I actually see our D-Line as a major strength! We'll be able to bring Davenport along slowly

Okafor is actually the one that needs to be brought back slowly off that achilles tendon tear... Rankins' play, in his third year, needs to justify the invested first round pick, or he's a bust... But I'd agree that our defensive line should have great improvement, depth, and play-making ability... |

Okafor was great at getting his hands up when not getting to the QB. A very undervalued skill. Made several plays like that last year.

Re: Saints see encouraging signs from players coming off of injuries
Why would they want to bring him along slowly? DE is probably the one position that is pretty much plug him in and let him go. It isn't like offensive line positions where you have complex blocking schemes. Yes, there may be a blitz situation where he could be asked to drop back, but his main job will be to get the QB and he is supposedly better at that than any other player on the roster not named Cam Jordan ... and hopefully he could end up even better than him.

I expect the same from Davenport, especially with Neilsen as his coach. We really have the potential for an elite defense from front to back.
