UDFA QB's who play on special teams becoming good starting QB's pretty much never. I'm sure Taysom will be a guy to watch in preseason but he's no heir apparent to #9.

That quote strikes me as odd considering he played 5 seasons at QB for BYU, went to his combine, and it’s his second year on the team.

He did great on STs last year. I don;t care how much he squats though; can he read defenses and is he super accurate?

If Taysom Hill is beyond..... then Rocky Bleier is so far in front he's sneaking up from behind.......
While serving in Vietnam He lost part of his right foot and took a bullet in the thigh...... While he was recovering in a hospital in Tokyo, doctors told him that he could not play football again....... He was put on injured reserve for the season, but returned in 1971 and played on SPECIAL TEAMS. He spent several seasons trying to get increased playing time, and was waived on two occasions. But Bleier never gave up... Bleier retired after the 1980 season with 3,865 rushing yards, 136 receptions for 1,294 yards, and 25 touchdowns. At the time of his retirement, he was the Steelers' fourth all-time leading rusher NEVER SAY NEVER |

Come Training Camp, Taysom Hill will have had significant time to have learned the offensive plays and lexicon and will be afforded a great shot...
He has rare athleticism to complement his quarterbacking abilities... Whether Hill makes the team or not, Taysom will have had as good an opportunity as anyone... Plus, the team must feel Savage will be the best reserve that was available and Payton must feel they can fix his flaw to make him better... But we're only going to the next level if No. 9 is under center... |
