Why don't we have players like this?

Actually, with only about 1 mil in cap space, and a need to have 3.8 mil to sign our rookies this year, I suppose it is quite possilbe someone might get cut to make room. In fact, this is a large reason that Pathon is no longer on the team.
JKool\'s right. Keep in mind that June 1st cuts are just around the corner. Players WILL be cut. I say let\'s get rid of Gandy and call Munoz up. Supposedly he quit but I think he\'ll be signed to an NFL squad this year. What the heck.

Cut Gandy, go with Stinch and let the fur fly.

Also Kool, as you know, Joe had one year left on his contract and was demanding a new one. Not the ssme with Quarles. He has 3 seasons left on his deal and was in no position to demand anything new. He also isn\'t a pro bowler so I don\'t see how he would have had a reason to demand a new deal. Yet he took a cut. I think hell is pretty safe from freezing over here at this point.

Add to that Quarles actually took a PAY CUT, unlike Joe horn. Joe got MORE money, the cap hit was just spread over more years. Not at all the same.

Joe has been our top WR atop WR in the NFL and has shown no signs of slowing down. I don\'t think Joe\'s situation corresponds at all to Quarles.

I agree about cutting Gandy and going with Stinch. I just don\'t see how he could THAT much worse than Gandy has been.

Point taken on Horn.

As for cutting Gandy, I say hell no. Gandy was hardly that bad last year. I\'d like to see some stats before I make a final call on that, but Gandy is way better than an unproven player IMO. He may be slowing down, but he was a pro-bowler.

Even if he is slower, he still has all the skills, knowledge, and vetran savvy. Not to mention being a POSITIVE locker-room presence.

Cutting Gandy would be foolish, IMO. Getting him to restructure sounds just fine with me. It still won\'t be enough.

Good point Kool and I should have clarified. If Gandy restructures, I am fine. But if they ask him to and he says no, I would cut him. Nothing but good reports about Stinch getting stronger during the offseason. We take a shot. Gandy is regressing. That means more than likely this year will be worse than last year. I would rather start a player whose career is going up than one whose is obviously going down, seemingly right before our eyes. But I will say again, if he restructures, great. Keep him.

Here\'s a thought...

We\'ve got about 1 million under the cap. Cut Gandy now... 6 million. Sign our rookies... 2 million. Restructure Howard\'s contract... 7 million. Sign Simon... 3 million. Work with Bentley and McKenzie on long-term deals. Watch out for a move with Brooks next offseason (another 6 mill for Deuce )

It costs almost 4 mil to sign our rookies.

I think Brooks will be moved for cap reasons next year (unless he shows us something or we have no options).

Whodi, I think we agree.

I\'m not really for cutting him either way, but I can see as how this might help our cap situation some. Of course, we won\'t save his whole contract value, due to his accelerated bonus cost.

As of now, he is the best proven tackle on the roster, a Left Tackle no less. I\'m sure he\'s still worth about 3 mil (let\'s get him to restructure to that).

If we can Kool, I am all for it. If he flat out refuses, bye bye Gandyman.
