Re: Michael Thomas Looking Great
Ok I'm gonna play Max Kellerman. Mike Thomas is great at catching 8 yd posts and curls but if he hits so hard, why doesn't he ever break any tackles? Like ever. It'd also be nice if he could catch a couple more deep balls. I mean Lance Moore caught more fade routes. Ok forum. You play Steven A.

Re: Michael Thomas Looking Great
I see plenty of broken tackles in these highlights, as for the Deep Ball stuff that's just our system. Thomas doesn't have Ted Ginn type speed, so Payton is just playing to Thomas strengths.

Re: Michael Thomas Looking Great
Ok I watched 10 min of 18 of that video. The first 20 catches he makes are 8yd curls or posts with 0 YAC yardage. So far "cant guard Mike" is less than dynamic with the ball in his hands. I'd love to see him attempt to punish some tacklers. In truth when he's running with the ball in traffic he elects to just go down instead of fighting for every yard and keeping his legs turning. Very similar to Jimmy Graham actually. Oh and our system LOVES to take deep shots. Period.

Re: Michael Thomas Looking Great
He's a great all around WR. Probably the best right now. He is never going to be the Maserati Julio, Antonio Brown guy but on the other hand, they will never be great at blocking. He is an exceptional blocker just like they are great with speed. I would not at all be surprised to see him targeted more on deep routes if any of our other WR's pan out. One on one, he's going to win most of those. |
