Underhill: Saints training camp Day 19: Trey Hendrickson, Arthur Maulet keep impressing
Full story: https://www.theadvocate.com/new_orle...9cb28ba26.html Footnote from the article: Notes: "Not the best day for A.J. Klein. He got beat pretty bad by Ingram on a curl out of the backfield. Klein also got beat in the flat against Jacksonville. … WR Keith Kirkwood dropped a pass. He’s had a few of those this camp. … Another nice pass breakup by CB Justin Hardee, this time on a deep ball to Brandon Tate. It was mentioned yesterday that he needs to keep making plays on defense. … Ben Watson is back. The veteran tight end had several good plays during practice. … TE Dan Arnold had one of his better moments of camp by catching a fade for a touchdown. ... Natrell Jamerson broke up a pass. The rookie cornerback is coming on". I'm really concerned about the lack of improvement from Klein. Starting to wonder if he's even a starting caliber LB. |

I am as well, but I like the fact how deep we are at LB. If he can't step it up, its not as big a problem than in years past. It'd just be nice to see more growth from him.

Re: 2018 New Orleans Saints Training Camp
I’m starting to think all this cross-training the LB’s at each position might be impeding some development. It’s great to have guys who can play all three spots in case we need to account for injury or take advantage of match-ups, but can we just put them where they’re best and let them develop some chemistry?
Klein moves between Sam and Mike, Anzalone started at Mike in the first preseason game, and Davis has been playing Will when I don’t think anybody really expects him to be playing there instead of Mike when the regular season starts. |
