makes me fantasize of my thought of the show Extreme Team Makeover. I find a tough defensive team with a weak offense (ala Ravens) much more palatable than hoping for the big hitting offense to carry ya past the D-deficiencies. like back then, the talent on offense wasn\'t sparkling, carl smith was mr. ho-hum, but damn, it seemed like you were in most games even in the so-so years cuz of the tenacious d.

i looked up 3 .500-ish seasons from that era to see if there was substance to my perception. 1989 9-7, 1990 8-8, and 1993 8-8.
