Need help
We’re heading to NOLA for Thanksgiving Game from San Antonio with the family. Taking my 4 year old daughter to first game. Any recommendations on where we could have a family meal for Thanksgiving before the game?

Overnight Stay? ATL Game is that night, so are you looking for a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner that day and then work your way to the Dome for the game that night? Dress Code? I ask because some folks like to dress, go back to their rooms (or relatives) change into game fan gear then head to the game... |
Re: Need help
Two years ago I took my wife on a "Baby-moon" to New Orleans during Thanksgiving. We also took in a Saints game and had a blast. You'll find many restaurants are closed for Thanksgiving Day. I would HIGHLY recommend a reservation at Shaya.
James Beard award-winning chef Alon Shaya (formerly under John Besch) making modern Israeli food on Magazine St. incredible flavors, something different than what you probably eat (im guessing) and a great experience to talk about. I've been in the food and beverage industry for decades. Trust me. |

I always like to go to Deanies at least once when I come visit.

Ok, I didn't know the budget but it's hard to find a TG meal, great quality at least on TG. I would also look into country clubs in the area. Some do a great job with holiday meals and might be able to buy spots prior for non members.

Re: Need help
I appreciate any and all recommendations. One of my wife’s friends that lives in NOLA recommended Redfish grill.

Good luck. Probably in good hands though in NO. Ran into this in Philly one year. Even the high dollar dollar hotel was not serving food all day. Not even breakfast. |

My best recommendation is to check this website often. Tom Fitzmorris has been discussing New Orleans area food for about 40 years. I don't think any other city could support a daily, two hour radio show just about eating!

Re: Need help
I'm wondering how many restaurants will be open for Thanksgiving.
If you're staying in the quarter, see if you can get dinner reservations at one of the nicer hotels like La Pavillion or Royal Sonesta. Maybe even the Roosevelt. You'll always get a good meal at those places. |
