Hey Whodi, sound familiar? Didn't we say this exact thing about picking Jammal about 4 weeks ago?
The drafting of Jammal Brown will have a domino effect on the offensive line. Veteran free agent Jermane Mayberry can stay at right guard, which is the position he played for most of his career in Philadelphia. Right guard Montrae Holland will shift to left guard, where he'll compete and probably supplant Kendyl Jacox. The staff wasn't happy with Jacox's play last season. He was not in great condition and lost the quickness and agility that made him a top guard during his first two seasons. With Brown, Mayberry and Holland, the line has upgraded three positions. The right side should be particularly powerful with Brown and Mayberry. . . .
Don't be surprised if rookie Alfred Fincher pushes for playing time as a rookie. He has natural leadership skills and is the kind of take-charge leader the unit has lacked in recent years. If nothing else, Fincher will push second-year linebacker Courtney Watson and make him a better player. . . .
Well Gumbo, we may have gotten the MLB you've been wanting. I agree, he may be a player.

Quarterback Aaron Brooks is quietly enjoying one of his best offseasons. He has been a leader in the club's offseason conditioning program and has dedicated himself to being a more vocal leader. The coaching staff is ecstatic with his progress.
I wonder if this dedication had anything to do with round 5?
SCOUTING REPORT: Running back Deuce McAllister is the heart and soul of the offense, but he needs to dedicate himself more to the weight room and get in better shape.
I wonder if this guy will get hammered like I did last year. LOL! ;)
McAllister has the frame to carry 240 pounds and still be effective, but he's a truly special talent when he plays around 225 pounds. At that weight he retains the breakaway speed that allows him to outrun defensive backs and make big plays. McAllister is more comfortable running between the tackles, but he can also make plays outside. He is an excellent receiver and has improved tremendously as a blocker. Because of his selfless attitude and commitment, he's one of the most respected players on the team. There are few weaknesses in his game.
When in shape. I wonder if "when in shape" is his new nickname?
HARD TRUTH: The Saints did their homework on rookie quarterback Adrian McPherson and were smart to wait until the fifth round to take a chance on him. But there's reason to be concerned about a kid who is still not being open about his involvement with a gambling scandal at Florida State University two years ago. McPherson lied to FSU coach Bobby Bowden, one of the more lenient coaches around. What's to say he won't do the same to Jim Haslett? There's a reason several teams eliminated McPherson entirely from their draft boards.
Anyone else kinda nervously excited about A-Mac?
DEFENSIVE TACKLES ANALYSIS: C. Brian Young plays with heart and non-stop hustle, but he needs to be complemented by a superior run stuffer. Johnathan Sullivan should have been that guy, but he's been a major bust.
Johnathan who?

I\'m actually very high on klingsbury...I think that he is very underrated and is slipping under this boards radar....not really that suprised though.

jefferson may be the answer here...which if he is-very very good draft.

Kingsbury... I have been keeping an eye on since last training camp and I can see him making the cut this year. AB, AM and Kingsbury... leaving Bouman out... and hell I liked him coming to the Saints but...

Yup Danno, and once I came to terms with not drafting DJ, yeah I did feel like Brown will help us be nasty on the O-line. If nothing else, that unit has seen a 180 from last year by all accounts, and should Gandy or Stinch be able to hold down the LT, yikes.

Thanks for posting the article, Danno.

I don\'t know what it is about Fincher. All I\'ve seen is a few highlights of Fincher.

But, from those highlights, I saw Fincher going at it with a big 300lb offensive lineman after the play was over. You can tell this kid is physical and doesn\'t back down. I like that.

I\'m not a big fan of DT Brian Young. I wish here were a little bigger. But, he\'s solid. I can live with Brian Young, but I wish Sullivan (or someone) would step up and take some pressure off of Brian Young.

I also like hearing about Brooks being more of a vocal leader.

We\'ll see what happens when training camp and preseason rolls around. But if you\'re not excited about this upcoming season, then you\'re nuts ... ...

Oh come one whodi -- excited is different than optimistic. I am excited as I always am -- if for nothing else than its football season

I am excited for football to start, but I am not all that excited about our team, not because I don\'t think we can do well, cause it is possible, but cause the other teams in our own division have gotten so much better. We are depending mainly on players who have failed us previously or are failing us currently to improve for us to get better. And I seriously can not see us going better than 7-9 or 8-8 cause there is no way in hell the NFC will be as bad this year as they were last year. What excitement should I have for what looks to be another mediocre season? But I am excited just to have football being played on Sundays again, and to see what new and interesting ways AB can be defended this season.

i\'m going to say i\'m optimistic, but only if our free agents can step up.... honestly, with the exception of jammal brown, none of the rookies will be major contributors (fincher has an outside shot, i forgot to say)... if our signings (levar fisher and jimmy williams can come in a play their part like the saints evidently believe they can, then we\'ll be a better team this season and will be almost a lock for the playoffs at least.... i think one of the better signings that most people have over looked is that of levar fisher, probably because of that knee of his, but i\'ve heard that he\'s recovered and should be the stud that he was at south carolina.... if so, then the saints are justified by passing on LB in the first and second rounds.... i wasn\'t sold on johnson and i think davis, while i loved the guy, is about a year or two from being the impact player we need today....

I can accept that -- Still -- I cannot go into the season thinking that way -- I always have high hopes for our team -- I feel we have improved -- Smith should be solid -- I thik Fincher could actually be our starter by game 3 - and have to believe our offensive line will be very solid this year -- maybe even the best in football which would improve our offense. But like usual I probably will be disappointed and pissed off while you can only be surprised and happy
